How to create audiobooks in iTunes? - 0 views

  •
Digital audiobooks can be purchased online including Audible, eMusic, and iTunes. iTunes keeps audiobooks separate from your music library so as to make them easier to find. Also, it allows you to adjust the playback speed of the file as well as resume from the previously played chapter where it left. Just by tuning few settings, you can ready your iTunes and iPod to recognize any audio file or group of audio files as an audiobook.

How to Disable Install Windows Updates and Shut Down Option in Windows Start Menu? - 0 views

  •
Windows Updates, as you know is a legitimate software update from Microsoft to make the operating system stable and secure for improved performance. By default the feature remains enabled, however, you have the option to configure it further. Set Windows to automatically install updates or get your permission prior to it. Generally, after Windows Update the system automatically shuts down due to the replacement of the Shut Down option in the Start menu with the "Install Updates and Shut Down" button. This phenomenon is sometime irritating.

It is simply a list with notes about site features as they were viewed online during the month of July 2006."

GradeGuru, note sharing by students for students - 0 views

  •
This is backed by McGraw Hill -- I think it is their way of getting free info to create online texts....it's a place where students get paid to upload their notes (i.e. boiled down teacher lectures). A very clever stategy, but there is something about it that doesn't sit well.... I am wondering what ownership rights you give up when you upload notes? This would make an interesting blog post if explored more.

Around the Corner-MGuhlin.org: Download a la Mode: Netbooks Go Viral - 0 views

  • While many netbooks come with GNU/Linux which forestalls the spread of spyware/malware/viruses, the preference in places where MS Windows IS the only thing people know is high.
  • "I can't allow this out there because there is no way to manage it on the network."
  • "This is a threat that IT managers are just beginning to recognize," says Brian Wolfe, a security analyst at Lazarus Technologies Inc., an IT consulting service in Itasca, Ill.

  • Ultraportables' reduced resources also limit their ability to run add-on security software, such as data encryption and anti-malware tools. With processing power, internal memory and storage space all at a premium, it can be difficult -- sometimes impossible -- to squeeze security software onto an ultraportable. "As a result, the machines are often sent out into the world with little or no protection," Wolfe says.

Technology Review: Don't Blame the Internet - 0 views

  •
Last year, after the social-networking site MySpace found that its members included some 29,000 registered sex offenders, the nation's top state prosecutors demanded a technological fix, asking that the industry "explore and develop age and identity verification tools for social networking web sites."
