On Friday 12th of June 2009 we are holding an unconference on this theme.
Impoverishment of the Educational Imagination

Stand after stand at the BETT Show this year seemed to bear witness to a concept of schooling that is just about as far away from the joy of learning as it appears possible to get - it could really only get worse if we were to go back to thrashing kids. Everywhere I wandered I came across little gaggles of people listening intently to someone demonstrating yet another ticky-boxy piece of junk designed to rank and grade kids, to label them, to monitor them and to 'protect' them.

With the decision to stop using Edublogs, I am left with the question of what to use instead. This isn't just a decision for hosting of my own blog, that's done and dusted now. The problem is that I am not sure where to point others who are looking for a blogging solution. In particular, I've been charged with providing blogging training after Easter for staff at my own school and will need to have something for these practical sessions
This is one of our class blogs where ads have been appearing recently.
The class teacher contacted me for advice and I suggested that the school could sign up to be an edublogs supporter and then there would be no more ads appearing on their site. I also pointed out that if any other teachers were keen to set up a class blog, then their blogs could be included in the school's 'ad free' package.
The school is happy to do that and the problem will be resolved soon.
