5th grade students share horse safety advice suing Audiboo.fm as a social media tool to capture audio but also share it out to the larger community for comments and sharing. There's so much potential with this one!

1500 students across 11 school in the Northeast region of America came together to virtually celebrate acceptance of differences using Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" as their soundtrack. The scenes were/are broadcasted on YouTube to share with a larger audience and also document the work of these students - social media and education aligned!

Students create a fake profile for Bill Gates that presents major life moments. "Friends" created by the fakebook page author can comments. Fellow students can also comments, making this a rich resource for research and academic social networking.

8th grade students research current events and share their responses via their class wiki. This broadens their audience to their peers, thus impacting their own evaluation of their work and their peers' work.

2 5th grade classes in Germany use Skype to connect about culture and traditions as well as practice using social media in this capacity. They used Skype to communicate and also documented their learning using other technology.

Middle School students use evidence from a main text ("The Clay Marble") to explore the topis of bullying via the Collaborize Classroom platform. This is a powerful way for students to reflect and also gain perspective from their peers.

Student bloggers contribute to this general school blog and share their reflections, thoughts, projects, and work in this format. The mission statement of the blog mentions that it aims to get these students to be thoughtful and responsible social networkers. What better way than to have them actually do it!

MOOCs can be a part of your PLE, or your PLE can be an integral part of your MOOCs. Either way, Connectivism is at the heart of every MOOC.
