Learning Games For Kids - 0 views

  •
This website has links to many different instructional games for kids. It's broken up into different categories based on content. I tried a few games and kids would like them and, of the ones I tried, there definitely was educational value in them. Though the games are geared toward elementary students, it would be nice if they were also sorted (or sortable) by grade-level.

The goal of teachers in the digital age and how we can use PLN's to help. "No one is really asking teachers or school systems to change what they've been doing. They're basically asking them to basically do what they have been doing better. The huge barrier is trying to get people to acknowledge that this new world of learning exists and then starting a conversation around how can we make that effective for kids." - Will Richardson

Stotan Unplugged: My humble Opinion about Humble - 0 views

  • But the authors aren't cheating the kids.  The Superintendent is cheating the kids.  Blaming the authors is like blaming the fearful young wife for bashing her face into her abusive husband's fist.  This might well be a time for those kids to have an experience that is a whole lot more fulfilling than meeting their favorite wordsmith.  This could be a time for them to stand up and feel empowered; to write letters to the editor, and picket, and demand answers to why a few ideologues, who are not educators, by the way, get to decide for everyone that they shouldn't see and hear Ellen Hopkins talk about writing books to which many of them connect.

GoNoodle | Movement and Mindfulness for Kids - 3 views

This is a new site that I like to visit with students. It allows the opportunity for them to take a brain break and pick which activity they do. What I enjoy is that there are calming ones that we can use when they come in from recess/lunch and dancing ones for after a long test/lesson.
  •
This is my favorite website for elementary kids to get some wiggles out. The kids love the variety of activities, along with getting "points" and then leveling up to different characters. I love the site because I have the ability to choose an amount of time for the students to engage in physical activity and what I want to focus on. I made "Choose the Go Noodle" reward cards for homework winners.
  •
Great site for integrating brain breaks and physical activity throughout the day. Connections to content material as well.

I use this site with my middle school Chorus students on a nearly-daily basis. While its content is aimed towards K-5, it allows great guided movement on days we need to get the wiggles out, and guided breathing and focus when we need to bring down the stress in the room.
