Due to mobile world there are new types of learners. They might already know social networking but do they really know how to manage and use this correctly? They need to be taught to deal with information overload, provide information back into a network, and learn how to stay current.

This article provides a concise look at personal learning networks in education. Benefits and reasons for educators and students to utilize are outlined.

This guide provided the benefits to PLNs, and both teachers and students can use PLNs effectively. The benefits outlined were, student preparedness, engaging, students have to take ownership of learning, individualized instruction, problem-solving skills, safety, and saves time and money. Ways teachers can use PLNs are for resource allocation, collaboration, and help. Students can use PLNs to find credible information through RSS feeds, share blog postings, about reflections and offer feedback for improvement.

This is a case study of a six week MOOC on mobile learning. This case study focuses on connectivist learning inside an open course that is self-organizing. And includes internal diversity, internal redunacny, neighbor interaction and decentralized control.

This journal article dives into the three biggest reservoirs of information based on the principles of connectivism: social networks, online classrooms, and virtual reality learning platforms. The author identifies some of these specific resources and addresses how they relate to connectivism.

I like this article. I like that the author breaks down the reservoirs of information in a graphic. I also like that the author talks about different social media that aren't as common or well-known. The examples of uses of podcasts, virtual learning and mobile devices are interesting in that I never considered using Nintendo DS in that manner.

Great speech writing/rehearsing tool for iOS. (Prompster is for Android users.) Recommend for educators and students. Seems like a good tool for mobile learning.

This blog talks about Larry Liu, who has successfully implemented Facebook into his class as well as mobile technology.

Nearpod is a tool that enables teachers to use their devices to manage content on students' devices. It combines presentations, collaboration, and real-time assessment tools, allowing teachers to embed polls, quizzes and drawings, as well as video and other content, into slides in Nearpod.

This link contains a great video explaining the SAMR model in 120 seconds. SAMR is a framework through which you can assess and evaluate the technology you use in your class. SAMR has four levels - Substitution, Augmentation, Modification and Redefinition. Depending on a lesson, a class may be at the substitution level, or it might be at the redefinition level. Modification and Redefinition refer to a "transformation" of the learning environment.

This article compares the theories of connectivism with chaos. That since we are now using mobile tools there are implications for what this means for chaos theory. Teachers need to provide opportunities for students to use tech to find connections to their learning.
