At our campus technology is standard in each classroom, they each have a smart board, document camera, projector and at least 4 computers. Certain departments have other technologies but it comes down to training and making sure teachers are using the tools, at the same time teachers need to be receptive to training and to new technology.

Esther, this is a great article to show to our administrators how important it is for them to support us teachers in the integration of technology by making us do everything on line, like the article says that Principals should push teachers to become technology savvy by simply submitting lesson plans on line, receive emails, create our classweb page. Our district has done a great by providing us with the opportunity to attend conferences and participate in programs such as the MTT Program so that we can help our district integrate technology in our classrooms.

I'm from Generation X with a technology heart. I have always thought of my self as technolog savy because I have always kept up with the ttrend of computers startng with a manual typewriter and eventually getting my first computer in 1995. I actually started using Excel 95 and I remember going huh! but I figured it out and at that point I new that technology was going to be huge but I had no idea how fast it would grow. I do have an iPhone but I have not bought an iPad, not because I don't want to, I just think that the iPad has limitations that I don't have with a laptop, granted laptop does not have a touch screen but that is ok for me.

We are in the 21st Century and every year there is a technology conference that we as teachers like to go because we like to know what is new and we are in search of greatest technology tool that we can introduce our students to, but once we have that tool we need to figure out how to integrate it and the reality is that sometimes the tool is not used to its full capacity. One of the reasons is the lack of training and the other is the lack of time. But once a teacher is trained they should practice using the tool until they can master it. We are always telling students to study so that they can master their assessments, we as teachers should practice our tools so we can master them, too.

Shannon, this is a great web site to look for videos that can bring light to new ideas. There are so many resources at our disposal and we should really take advantage to get as much knowledge as we can. The ideas that this particular video talks about is amazing because we are in a poor area and our technology budget is small and it is an eye opener for our students to get their juices going to start thinking out of the box. Thank you so much for sharing.
