Purpose of the Website: This website offers hundreds of different podcasts that are appropriate for use in classrooms. Using the directory, you can search by grade level and subject to find podcasts that work well for your class's needs. Grade Level: K-12, Professional Classroom Connection: Students can use podcasts on a weekly basis to help develop their listening skills. One way this can be used in a classroom is possibly listening to weekly current events and having the students create a class newspaper sharing events that are happening around the country or around the world. Negatives of this Website: A lot of the podcasts available of the website are created by students and schools. It might be a great idea to include some podcasts that are professional created and approved by teachers.

A web-based pd site.

This site is strictly for educators and would be of no use for students. The advantage of this site is that it focuses on emerging research-driven strategies. For this reason, it is constantly evolving. The difficulty with this site is that if you are a kinesthetic learner this would not be for you necessarily. Pre K-12

K-12 Flash cards, vocabulary memorization, and study games for all ages. Teachers and students can use already pre-made or create their own. Con: Must review before using pre-made, just to be cautious.

This resource takes wordle and goes a step further. All grade levels are able to benefit from this word cluster in a picture format. Might use it in English during a poetry unit.

3-12 A play on Wordle but with 'style'. Students and teachers can create a wordle with different shapes. Cons: You can choose your shape, but must adjust and play to make it good.

K-12 Great for a class/ group collaboration in and outside of the classroom and great for personal use! Con: District permission, public to everyone, anyone can add or delete information.

K-12 Secure online class forum for teachers and students to extend learning outside of the traditional classroom. Con: Probably need your district's permission.

3-12 A virtual sticky note wall for teachers and students. Teachers can post updates for a class or just allow students to use it for collaboration. Cons: must monitor student activity.

6-12 Teachers are able to give a poll or pose a question to students and allow them to use their cell phones to answer. Students will use text messaging to answer. Cons: its costs money and you cannot determine whose reponse is who.

3-12 Students and teachers can create an online poster and also collarborate. Con: Everyone must register to use and must watch for bullying.

3-12 Teachers and students can collarborate over a public live document. You can invite others to be apart of this experience and its all FREE, no limits. Cons: No limits, must monitor students.

3-12 Teachers and students can create or search voicethreads. Images, videos, documents can be uploaded and students can collarborate and/or add comments to voicethreads. Cons: must register and limited access for Free version.

K-12 An online web-based IWB for teachers and students. Cons: There are free and paid versions.

K-12 With budgets becoming a henderience on field trips, efieldtrips allows teachers to take their class to places they never thought they would see. Con: Not all places are available.

3-12 Teachers and students can create a hotlist, treasure hunt, sampler, scrapbook, or webquest.

This can be used in all content areas. It is a terrific tool for pre-assessment. This can be for yourself as an educator or as a student. This can be helpful so that we -as teachers- know our audience. One con of this is not necessarily the fault of the site, but I have found that students' learning styles seem to vary. For this reason, I would have students take the inventory several times during a school year. 4-12
