Grades 1-5 A resource for interactive activities to give students practice with weekly spelling words. This is a great activity for students to utilize at home when practicing weekly spelling words. It is a more engaging activity for students to complete spelling activities.

Purpose of the Website: This children-friendly search engine is a wonderful resource in any classroom. Students can type their search subject in the search box. When the search results appear, there are a list of websites that students can access to find more information on the subject. However, the difference between this search engine and others is that there is a space at the top of the webpage that shows words that are connected with the subject that has been searched. For example, if you search for cows, some of the other subjects listed include cattle, mammal, dairy, milking, and many others. These words are generated based on information that appears in the search results. This can help students search with other key words when they cannot find the other information they are looking for. Grade Level: 3-8 Classroom Connection: This search engine can be used when students are performing research on the computer. Negatives of this Website: The websites that are generated by the search are mostly children-friendly. However, teachers should still teach students how to evaluate websites to choose the most appropriate resources.

Grade level- 9-12 CC- A student can take the words from a news artcle on a current event and create a visual representation using the site. Overview- Can take words from a famous speech, newsarticle, or slogans can create stunning visual tag clouds. Cons- Not every student has access to the internet.

Grade level- 7-12 CC- Student can use the site to orgnize vocabulary words or phrases when reviewing for a unit. Overview- site allows a user to create a platform for them to see their ideas. Great organizational tool. Cons- Might need some time getting used too.

This resource takes wordle and goes a step further. All grade levels are able to benefit from this word cluster in a picture format. Might use it in English during a poetry unit.

3-12 A play on Wordle but with 'style'. Students and teachers can create a wordle with different shapes. Cons: You can choose your shape, but must adjust and play to make it good.

Grade level- 7-12 CC- Students can create a glogster for a Roman Emperor as to why they would be the best candidate to be Mr. Rome Overview- A great site to post ideas, important information, and great organizational tool designed with images and color. Cons- Need some time to get used too.

This is a tool to be used by students or by teachers to create an online poster. One con to this site is that students will first have to be familiarized with copyright law before reusing information. If the poster is intended to communicate research information, there is no built-in way of creating a bibliography. Check out "Today's Top Glogs" for fresh ideas.

This is a web-based thesaurus that provides a physical representation of synonym and antonyms.

This works really well in an ELA class for choosing character traits or crafting a writing piece. There is a limit to how many times it can be accessed without a subscription, but it's workable. You simple go back a page and start again. What I like best about this site is that the site will provide you with relatable words to what you're looking for and they don't have to be exact matches. By illustrating them at a distance, it is communicated that this is the nature of the connection. 4-12

3-12 A virtual sticky note wall for teachers and students. Teachers can post updates for a class or just allow students to use it for collaboration. Cons: must monitor student activity.
