This particular article, "Beyond Podcasting Basics," features what can happen when teachers are able to move beyond the basics of podcasting: students who can produce more full-featured, professional products. This how-to article addresses the selection of sound equipment, recording tips, podcasting on a Mac, Windows podcasting, finding music for podcasts, and publishing a podcast.

Video podcasts suggesting ways for teachers to teach Math concepts. Similar to Common Craft technique of using whiteboard. It might be interesting to have students create their own video podcasts to explain a concept for their classmates. [At times confusing as to who their audience is supposed to be.]

Mr. Coley's classroom website has several interesting uses of technology. I particularly enjoy The Daily Blog, ColeyCast, StudyCast, iPod Flash Cards, Classroom Taxes, and his generous "How To" explanations.

How to cite digital media, podcasts in general

This podcast explores various ways to engage students in their reading and writing using the power of the Internet. Gain insight to ways you can capitalize on Internet resources to help students read, write, collaborate, and most importantly, be creative. This podcast examines practices such as blogging, wikis, digital storytelling and more.

This lesson was done in cojunction with the Smithsonian Institute and Jamestown. Students podcasted their experiences with the Jamestown site, demonstrating that new technology could be used to learn about historical sites. This lesson could be modified for any number of historical sites.

Students select a special place that is important to them then take on the roll of a park ranger and through photographs and narration in a short video (which will be turned into an enhanced podcast) explain why this place is special to them, what is unique about it, what are its main features, its history, and what people need to do to help preserve it for the future.

This video is helpful in demonstrating the basics of podcasting and how it can be integrated into a classroom.

A blog created by a classroom teacher and her 5th and 6th grade Language Arts classes which includes student book reviews, an author study podcast, an online book club and more.

This blog is a good example of how students can write book reviews to be shared with their peers. It will also be interesting to watch how their online book club develops. I look forward to their How 2 Videos especially the video on finding a good book!

RM Podium is a podcasting software specifically engineered for educators. It starts with a 30 day trial, but is a little pricey.

Cherokee County, GA's program for getting technology tools to teachers who are motivated to use them. I listened to a podcast of their presentation at GAETC 2007. Sounds like a great way to use limited money to put technology into classrooms where it will be used. Teachers have to commit a lot of time to training, implementing lessons, and sharing what they did.

iTunes University on iTunes has podcasts, videocasts, support material and more for free. Content available from many major universities. View on the web or download to your portable devices. Also includes technology integration lessons and tech help (see University of South FL).

This webcast/podcast tackles the issue of technology offering convenience of information, but not actually offering wisdom in terms of processing information.

NASA site for kids includes games, animations, podcasts, and facts. Also available in Spainish.

I put this under tools, but, honestly, it's a lot more. iTunes U is a repository to tons of podcasts and the like that are all state-approved and available through iTunes for free. This site also helps teachers make their content available to other teachers.
