BASIC TRAINING PRINCIPLES MODULE VII BASIC TRAINING PRINCIPLES - 1 views

  •
Quick View on pre-training competency include reading assignments that can be used during and after training. Structured warm- up activities such as, video/films and note-taking .To attract and maintain the attention of the participants handouts (such as questionaires or keyterm scramble sheets) are useful and can be circulated some time before the training. I like this article because it gave me some ideas for my pre-training activity for my multimedia presentation and I learned how important pre-training is as well as it was useful for generative learning. http://www.unescap.org/tid/publication/part_seven2184.pdf

This website promotes both technology-centered and learner-centered instruction. Teachers will instantly have access to computerized graphic organizers, spreadsheets, and presentation templates. Google Docs has the potential to equalize technology gaps between the haves and the have-nots. For example, any student, who can access the Internet, can obtain a Google Docs account.

This video is a short clip from the CBS Evening News. The news cast explains the clicker craze taking place across the nation. Teachers and students explain the benefits of using clickers in the classroom instead of a standard paper and pencil assignment. Clickers are especially useful at large universities; the clickers are used to help maintain a connection with students when there are several hundred in the classroom. The introduction of clickers can be confusing and stressful for teachers. The news clip explains the usage of clickers in a generative learning way. The video interview demonstrates the benefits of clickers and summarizes how and why one wants to include clickers into daily instruction.

This is an excellent website that provides the learner with tutorial videos that are arranged by topic. Each aspect of the clicker is included. E-Instruction created the web tutorials; therefore, the videos come from a reliable source. The tutorial videos are great to demonstrate what needs to be done to effectively add clickers to classroom. Tutorial videos fit with Mayer's generative learning. The videos help those who are not as familiar and still having some trouble; they help the learner make sense of the material. The videos promote an engaged environment; the learner can follow along and actually use the clickers as they progresses through the tutorial. The generative lesson helps the learner put the information together.

Graphic organizers come in many different forms and are specific for the types of ideas or concepts they represent.Graphic.org presents the different types of organizers in a semantic feature analysis table. You can determine which GO works best for you and click on links for examples and resources. A great "stumbled-upon" resource

This website provides a chart for determining the type of graphic organizer to use. It also provides examples of many different types and styles of organizers. This is the most complete website I found on graphic organizers.

Skype - 0 views

Skype allows video conferencing between participants and students sharing sample media projects. By initiating motivation for the workshop through synchronous communication with student experts, participants experience generative processing. This procedure will demonstrate the purpose of the workshop and increase motivation for participation. Skype is free, available on my school server, and easy to install and use.
  •
Skype has become very popular because of the easy (and free) access to video and audio conferencing. It can potentially be used for conferencing calling a presentation. Also, students could work together closely from home because of the ability to hear each other while surfing the Internet looking for resources for the project.

This site provides a collection of graphic organizers available in a variety of media formats including Word, HTML, and PDF. The graphic organizers provided on the site allow the presenter to organize workshop material and provide participants with a guide and note-taking handout. The process of using a graphic organizer during instruction ensures essential cognitive processing of select material and promotes generative processing with an engaging environment. The significance of this site involves the ability to manipulate the graphic organizers to tailor the layout to specific instruction.

A collection of graphic organizers available in a variety of media formats. The development of computer simulations and games are a great addition. The ability to modify the graphic organizer to match the content.

The most interesting thing about graphic organizer section is that it allow you to open each of the graphic organizers in three different formats…HTML, PDF, and Word.
