The three web sites that I selected that include multimedia artifacts for active learning: 1) http://www.learner.org/ The learner.org website is a cognitive activity. This web site accomplishes the learner-centered approach. The web site focuses on using multimedia technology as an aid to human cognition (Mayer, p. 13 2009). It uses film clips to demonstrate the practical applications of various mathematical concepts to real life situations. It builds a connection of what the students are studying to a concrete example (visual) to create a clearer mental picture form prior knowledge to new knowledge that is being discovered. 2) http://pearsonmylabandmastering.com/ The My Lab web site is a behavioral activity. This web site accomplishes the learner-centered approach. The web site focuses on rewarding students for the correct responses (excellent) or punished for the incorrect ones (try again). The underlying metaphor is that of drill-and-practice system, so multimedia is a vehicle for rewarding correct responses and punishing incorrect ones (Mayer, p.15, 2009). A student receives immediate feedback positive or negative and strengthens a response system to proceed or provide reinforcement of the content. 3) http://webgraphing.com/ The web graphing web site is a cognitive activity. This web site accomplishes the learner-centered approach. The web site provides engagement between the student and the graphing calculator. Multimedia learning is a sense-making activity in which the learner seeks to build a coherent mental representation from the presented material (Mayer, p. 17, 2009). The students actively engage with the graphing calculator along with the teacher

Graphic Organizers by Houghton Mifflin English - 1 views

  •
Help kids put ideas and notes in order with any of these 33 graphic organizers. With names like Clock, Garden Gate, and Ice-Cream Cone, your students are sure to find more fun in sorting out their gained knowledge to find connections. These are printable or ideal to use with an interactive white board together. This web site is non-interactive on its own online as these are static visuals only. Essential learning comes together for younger learners with this website's offerings.

Videoscribe - 0 views

  •
Videoscribe allows the user to create unique, marker-board style animations and organizers without the time and cost of more professional examples seen on RSAnimate. It can be used by students to demonstrate their integration of knowledge, or by teachers to help students see the integration of concepts. Videoscribe is better than its alternatives because it is free, easy to use, and can be adapted to almost any need. In addition, it is available on the iOS.

Kerpoof - 0 views

The Kerpoof website is owned and operated by the Walt Disney Company. What is Kerpoof? The answer to that is not so simple. Kerpoof is all about having fun, discovering things, and being creative. Teachers and students can use Kerpoof to make artwork, make an animated movie, students can earn Koins which you can trade for fun things in a store, make a printed card, t-shirt, or mug, tell a story, and make a drawing. Kerpoof has free lesson plans for a variety of disciplines, from math and science to social studies and foreign languages available for download. Educators can register students and arrange them into classes. Students may chat with each other, post creations on a class message board (moderated by the teacher), and collaborate on a project in real-time from different computers. State and National Standards are cross-referenced with Kerpoof they can be used to meet. Kerpoof also publishes a free electronic newsletter that highlights new features, lesson plans, and ideas for using Kerpoof in the classroom.

This website includes technology-centered artifacts of websites which can be used with the Promethean board. Many people may not utilize their Promethean boards because they do not have time to make flipcharts or lessons. However, this website takes that worry away. It offers the convenience of having many resources together in one space. Mayer (2009), states that efficient learning comes from acquiring the learner's attention through well planned instruction. This website has completed that well planned instruction for you.

Math Text Book: Houghton Mifflin Math Tennessee - Multimedia Artifacts - 0 views

  •
The Math textbooks are available online with content identical to the student books. Education Place includes a Math Glossary, Games, Brain Teasers, Extra Practice, Homework Help, and More. Both of these websites are used with each unit or lesson in Reading or Math. It can also be accessed at home by parents and students. Some games included in the sites might provide some behavioral activity, however, it is general more cognitive in nature. The learning is presented through a website used via iPads, computer, or interactive white board, however it is learner-centered on the standards and objectives directly correlated with the units and lessons being studied at school in Reading or Math.

Promethean Planet is a website which offers self-guided training in using and utilized the promethean board. Training is available for the beginning user to the experienced user. It also offers training on the making of flipcharts, use of the tools and software itself, and reaching the adult learner. According to Mayer, this site is defiantly a learner centered website. It requires the process of following directions and completing specific tasks through the use of tutorials (Mayer, 2009).
