Cmap is a mind mapping software that helps instructors and students create complete and detailed mind maps. This can used for instructional planning, outlining, and brainstorming of ideas that both instructors and students will find easy to use. Cmap is a great tool to create visual connections to concepts and ideas and considers the visual channel of Mayer's Multimedia learning theory (Laureate Education. 2009). There is a cognitive aspect to this process as the creator is not only making visual connections but internal connections to the ideas being presented in the map. This can be considered more technology centered as it is one small aspect of a bigger outcome. This is a starting point to build upon a more comprehensive learning experience.

Rcampus is a free course management site that can be used to create online classes. It provides a video tutorial about how to use it and it is user friendly. You can create a comprehensive multimedia class by linking presentations, videos, podcasts and text to create a complete unit of study. The site is a good example of creating conditions for active processing (Laureate Education, 2009). Through the various multimedia, students will be engaged in active cognitive processing. This can be considered learner centered as the instructor has the ability to incorporate various media to reach the diverse learner.

This is software that can used to create easy visual presentations and tutorials that addresses the dual channel aspect of Mayer's multimedia learning theory. The engagement requires cognitive activity as students will watch and listen and process the necessary information and integrate it with prior knowledge (Laureate education. 2009). Using this type of media addresses the visual and auditory learner and can be considered learner centered as it considering both dual channel and multiple intelligence aspects of learning.
