Cmap is a mind mapping software that helps instructors and students create complete and detailed mind maps. This can used for instructional planning, outlining, and brainstorming of ideas that both instructors and students will find easy to use. Cmap is a great tool to create visual connections to concepts and ideas and considers the visual channel of Mayer's Multimedia learning theory (Laureate Education. 2009). There is a cognitive aspect to this process as the creator is not only making visual connections but internal connections to the ideas being presented in the map. This can be considered more technology centered as it is one small aspect of a bigger outcome. This is a starting point to build upon a more comprehensive learning experience.
