Checklist of Checkpoints for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0, Priority 1 Check... - 0 views

  •
This site provides a comprehensive list of Checkpoints for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0. This site was better than others, because the list was typed in a cohesive manner without extraneous graphics and material on the page. This list is for websites, but the concepts can be applied to multimedia workshops and presentations.

iPad: It's all elementary - 0 views

  •
This Web site contains articles and videos to demonstrate the usage of the iPad in K-2nd grade, as well as in Science and Art classes. Additionally, there are an array of apps listed that students could use to assist them in learning the necessary content. Some of the apps listed are free, while others are very expensive (less than $5.00). The apps make for a learner centered approach to learning, as the information can be as simple or as complex as needed to reach an array of learners. Because of this, the active engagement required focuses on cognitive activity.

Graphic Organizers - 1 views

  •
    * Name of the site: Graphic.org * URL: http://www.graphic.org/ * Brief description of what it allows you to do and how it can be used for essential or generative learning: This seems to be a great site for teachers to understand different graphic organizer configurations and to be able to download and alter them. * Brief explanation of why you found this site to be better than others you found (e.g., more effective, creates better products, easier to use, and so on): This site has usable links (those I explored worked, at any rate). It suggests uses and provides critical questions, suggestions for uses, and strategies

Graphic.org is a great site with a multitude of resources for the teacher to access. The site offers an explanation of each type of graphic organizer it list and which area of study would best fit the design.

TrackStar : Home - 0 views

trackstar offers teachers a way to control the internet for students. http://trackstar.4teachers.org/trackstar/;jsessionid=D1671293B1A30DDCF0425D894C2729D9 With trackstar the teacher generates a list of sites that the students will use to answer a given series of questions. The questions should lead to discovery on the websites annotated in the trackstar. I chose trackstar because it is very easy to use and has been in use for quite a while. This means that many trackstars have already been created for use by other teachers. A quick search through the database could deliver exactly what you need for your next activity.

Pre-Training: Acitivities Checklist - 0 views

  •
An essential part to PD is establishing relevance to what happens in the classroom. For many teachers implementing additional strategies to struggling readers or ELLs may seem overwhelming. Many teachers may already be using ESOL strategies in the classroom and may not even know it! Using this list of reading activities as a primer for background knowledge for some and a pre-training activity for others will help teachers realize that many ESOL strategies are just good educational practice. The Reading Resource is a clearinghouse of effective strategies for reading and although it is a bit difficult to navigate, it has a lot of resources for teachers from all educational levels.

Instructional Technology Graphic Organizers - 0 views

This site contains numerous links to outside sources (downloadable/web based, online interactive and pre-made) for creating graphic organizers. Links are also here for Inspiration, Kidspiration and SmartIdeas. I prefer sites that are a "one-stop" resource for the tools that I am looking to use. Since I use PowerPoint a lot in my area of work, this site also provides a link to a comprehensive list of pre-configured PowerPoint templates to create charts and diagrams.

Vocabulary A to Z- Custom Vocabulary Builder http://www.vocabularya-z.com/ I believe that Vocabulary A to Z can be used for pre-training because before I ever start anything new I need my students to be aware of and know the definitions for words that will be introduced and by doing vocabulary before I start the new information front loads my students to be prepared for the information to come. Vocabulary A to Z is a site that offers a free trial for 30 days and then requires a low annual payment of $19.95. I have found this twenty dollars a year to be indispensable when I consider the types of products that I am able to create with it. The wonderful thing about Vocabulary A to Z is that it offers so many different types of resources for all different subjects, grade levels and disciplines, but the feature that I love the most is the custom vocabulary builder they provide. I can enter my list of vocabulary words for any given novel, text book chapter, poem, anything and this custom builder helps me to organize and produce high quality and visually pleasing handouts and information sheets for my students.
