Code.org is a non-profit dedicated to expanding participation in computer science education by making it available in more schools, and increasing participation by women and underrepresented students of color. Our vision is that every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer programming. We believe computer science should be part of the core curriculum in education, alongside other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) courses, such as biology, physics, chemistry and algebra.

Having older students pick apart the Science/Maths in these humorous offerings can provide a stimulating activity. (but watch out for a few adult themes!)

A theory stemming from an experiment by social psychologist Stanley Milgram in the 1960s claims every living person is connected to any other through only six friends. Remote labs enrich science and engineering education by vastly increasing the scope of experiments that students have access to in the course of their academic careers. "Cryptoy is a fun, free, educational app about cryptography, designed by GCHQ for use by secondary school students and their teachers. The app enables users to understand basic encryption techniques, learn about their history and then have a go at creating their own encoded messages. These can then be shared with friends via social media or more traditional means and the recipients can use the app to try to decipher the messages."
