Exploring the Secret Life of Trees is designed to help 3rd - 5th grade students gain an appreciation of trees, observe trees in their everyday lives, and develop an interest in discovering more about trees. It is intended for adults to work with children to explore the secret life of trees. THE LINK to the student version is at the bottom of the page, "Return to the Secret Life of Trees". The student version is animated and narrated and can be used with DI/UDL.

This a great guide for teaching some elementary principles (ages 9-11) of poster (graphic) design. It covers topics such as layout, color, text, and use of images. It could be used as for whole class discussion or as an independent task for students with good comprehension skills. A rubric for visual information literacy component of a larger project could easily be constructed from this activity.

Use the virtual camera to create snapshots and explore lighting, focus, shutter speed, and compositional effects. After you have taken some photos, transform your pictures into something completely different. This Art Zone interactive is suitable for all ages. You can take simple snapshots or create complex artistic compositions by layering, applying filters, and experimenting with various special effects, lighting, and blends.
