Designed for ages 9-11, these interactive investigations are perfect for differentiation. Investigations include Forces and Motion, Earth and Beyond, Electricity, Light, and Sound. The activities in this site would be great for the IWB , to reinforce concepts. Creating a response sheet to match the online activity would be useful for assessment. There are several levels for each topic. It would be best to provide a link to the specific module to coincide with instruction.

PHOTO OP (Shockwave, 7 MB) is a two-part interactive activity that introduces you to digital photography and digital photo editing. Use the virtual camera to create snapshots and explore lighting, focus, shutter speed, and compositional effects. After you have taken some photos, transform your pictures into something completely different. This Art Zone interactive is suitable for all ages. You can take simple snapshots or create complex artistic compositions by layering, applying filters, and experimenting with various special effects, lighting, and blends. Note: these activities are a great way to introduce students to different art concepts. Example: the Color Activity involves learning about the color wheel. Great interactives that would work well with a projector and/or mimio, smartboard, etc.

These interactive tools can be used to supplement a variety of lessons and provide an opportunity for students to use technology while developing their literacy skills. My Culture Quest is an interactive adventure around the world. Students need to collect artifacts from several different countries and create an exhibition at the museum to complete the game. Students score the highest points by collecting items with a similar theme (conflict, religion, or celebrations) from various countries. Teachers can preview all of the images (artifacts) used in the game and print game cards to supplement the online activity.

Lots of interesting interactive quizzes and games for music. Instead of bookmarking the entire site for students, bookmark the just the activties that you want to use. Create your own categories (keywords) or use the ones on this page. You may want to use the grade level as a top level category for easy sorting. Example: grade 5 instruments

Search for activities by grade level and strand. Excellent math interactives for class instruction and individual/small group use for reinforcement/practice. Word Tamer is an interactive flash-based website where you "tame words and train stories" The site helps students create and develop new writing possibilities. All the ideas can be saved and printed off to be developed off-line. You can even print off certificates! The site contains different sections such as Wild Words, Prowl Through Plot, Capture a Character, Snare a Setting and Grapple With Genre. Each task is simple to get into and fun for children to play. Word Tamer is created by children's author Judy Waite and is born out of the creative writing workshops she delivers in schools.

Link Up is a web app that helps kids link words to categories. Each game requires two categories with six linked words each. Once you have created a game you can save it to access at a later time or to share with others. Students use Link Up by dragging links between categories and words. The game is easy to customize and create on the fly. It would be a great site to use with an interactive whiteboard.
