Pupils navigate their way around the two woods and use a camera to take photos of items of interest. Once they have taken each photograph a real image appears, together with more information about what they have seen. Once both woods have been visited, multiple choice questions test recall and understanding. The activity works well in an ICT suite for individual exploration and discovery or it can be used as a shared pupil experience using an interactive whiteboard - particularly helpful if the class includes non-readers. It is a great introduction to a real woodland visit.

Mix and match yourself with human and animal parts. There is a writing lesson here..... Mix and match your cartoon character with favorite animal features. Could be used as an extension for fairy tale, myths and legends or folktales unit. (Descriptive writing, storytelling)

Great problem-solving "physics" game on the idea of "mousetrap" or Rube Goldberg. Students can start by trying to solve other player's puzzles and then build their own. This will be a favorite of 5th and 6th graders.
