A year ago, the Occupy movement became one of the big news topics of the year - the popular slogan of this movement being "We are the 99%." This was reference to distribution of income, because protestors were angered at the unequal distribution of income leading to the "Top 1%" having such control over the economy. This article takes a look at how income inequality has continued to change since the movement has started.

This article on the distribution of income interested me because of the connection to economic growth and development. The efforts to create more equal income distribution are not only good for the population socially, but for helping economic performance. From the article; "This goal is worthwhile not only for reasons of fairness and social welfare, but because it would improve economic performance," says UNCTAD.

This article depicts the failure of the macroeconmic system in Nigeria, and how the country's poverty is exemplified through GDP. The low development of the country is due to a cumulation of low income rates, and a non-industrialized economy. Macroeconomic tactics are failing, and this results in high poverty of the country.

A study done in Canada by the University of BC looked at who REALLY made up this '1%' that all the Occupy protesters hate so much. Something important they conclude is that the gap between low-income and high-income demographics is massive; nothing to this degree has been seen since the Great Depression. It makes us think about how serious our economic situation really is right now. This article shows how resources are allocated in a free market by pointing out that both the quantity demanded and demand for gasoline fell. The quantity demanded fell because of a higher price; demand is falling because of uncertainty (which pushes the demand curve to the left). This shows allocative efficiency because if fewer people are working it make sense that fewer people are driving because these people no longer have to drive to work. Furthermore, these people may not have the ability to drive as much anymore because of their lower income.

Hello, In this video it talks about how the fuel prices have tripled over the last 20 years. It says that most of it has come from taxation and how in January the tax will increase by 3p a liter. This will translate that the average price will in by $1.50, however, if the government decided not in impose the tax then they would lose out of $1.5 billion of much needed revenue. Today, people spend a lot of their income on fuel and for people who own their own businesses they need have as much burden as possible because they will lose their demand. All in all, the government can keep the drivers and motorists happy by not increasing the tax or increase there revenue to help themselves out of the European economic crisis. From Tim

This article concerns the fact that German exports have fallen since December. This reflects what was learned on the "determinants" of exports; national income in foreign nations, exchange rates, relative inflation rates, etc. Considering the recent economic turmoil in Europe, one can assume that the economic situation of foreign countries has affected the level of Germany's exportation.
