This program allows teacher to show caregivers what is being done in the classroom (i.e. uploading class calendars, posting students' projects, etc.). If teachers post educational practice links, students are able to practice certain skills learned in the classroom at home. This program also allows parents to connect with the teacher, it will allow parents and teachers to communicate via blogs.

Picasa is a great way to organize photos into timelines and albums either on your computer or online. Picasa can be used to edit photos and add text. Movies, collages, slideshows can be made. Photos and items made from picasa can be used by parents, teachers, and children. Teachers can document the progress and activities throughout the school year. Children can use Picasa for showing off their projects or documenting their own personal progress.

This is free easy photo sharing and also works for Macs. Parents and children could conceivably use it at home to make illustrated books with captions since there is a caption writing feature.

I actually downloaded this software recently. It was extremely easy to use and fun to play with. I created a couple of slideshows involving my siblings, and shared with my family via the email and they enjoyed it. I like how easy it is to share and how creative you can get with it. I feel that children could use this with some assistance, but they will be thrilled with the end result. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

SchoolTube is a website where teachers and students can upload and watch videos for free. Students can search and watch videos safely. All videos that are posted on this site must be approved by registered teachers, follow local school guidelines, and adhere to schoolTubes high standards.

Families are also able to create their own blogs and websites where they can share updates with family and friends. Carepages provides support, community, and resources for anyone needing information and help during these trying times.Teachers can use this site to gain knowledge of conditions that might be affecting their students as well as by providing them with a way to check in on a student who might be in the hospital.

Carepages are a great way for families and patients to keep family and friends updated both in and out of the hospital. They would also be a great way for teachers and students to stay in touch with a friend who is in the hospital and missing school.

TeacherTube is a site for teachers to upload instructional videos for other teachers to view or for home learners. Members of this site are encouraged to make constructive comments, as if they were in a classroom listening to a lesson or in a meeting listening to a proposal. I thought it would be an effective way to use this website in a child-life setting. For instance, if a child was very ill and was contained to a hospital room, he/she could prevent from getting far behind in school by watching his lessons being taught online. This is a site I would recommend to all teachers, and the best part - it's free!
