heh, we should have one 'welcome' thread, can you rename this thread or the other one?

I'm GMT.
I don't mind helping out to moderate members, checking against docs team membership list.
I'll probably play a more peripheral supporting role. And when then tedious tasks have to be completed, I can come in to do grunt work, which I don't mind.
I'm happy to help out in the next 2 weeks, but my participation in docs team is limited usually to 3-4 hour spurts each week. I have 3 jobs, and next week I have to visit family. So I'll have some more down time for at least one week to help out.
Just so you have a rough idea of my time frame.
I thought pushing back the deadline for recommendations one week would be good, as we can all focus on the GS handbook. Hmm.. I'd better check the issue queue.

Looks like we have to ask Add1sun for some official OK to form a sub-group to go through this section, and report back recommendations.

Ah! I didn't see that. I thought there were only comments on bookmarked pages. I will check it out now.
How to do this:
- I have my diigo toolbar installed and opened
- I browse to the theming handbook, and I will see pink highlighted words, where you've made comments
- I right click and I can add sticky notes. If I select text then right click, I can add a highlight and sticky note
- I can also bookmark
- I must make sure to select which group I am publishing to.

I thought this was interesting - what i took away, leisa describes the thoughts of three users, their needs and their solution
1. i have a specific problem I need an answer to in which case, i search
2. i'm new at drupal, or some aspect of drupal and I need to get up to speed in which case, i need access to some 'designed' content (eg. tutorials) and I'm likely to hit the docs landing page
3. i need more information about
I think we should organise the theme handbooks to this end.
Answer to 1: Having all pages including relevant keywords, and keeping an index of all topics will improve search?
Answer to 2: Create guided tutorials for specific needs. By modeling with a few examples we could encourage more contribution in this area
Answer to 3: Maybe that's not relevant to theme section?
- It should be really clear what is guided tutorial content, and what is authoritative reference information.
I thought it was a relevant discussion to sub-team members, to consider a 'big-picture' view before digging in.
In terms of, when submitting the final recommendations for how-to re-do the theme handbooks, it would be good to explain the thinking behind it.
Helps also keep people on same page.
But, no worries, I defer to your leadership here, in order to drive this change someone needs to be in charge.
Having the sub-team is a great step forward, and you've already done alot on this topic.
