I'll try a little live-blogging of Descent today (Part I) - 1 views

  •
I'll try a little live-blogging of Descent today maybe. It'll serve as notes for me anyway.I cry when Lieutenant Renn dies because the stupid-ass mores of dwarven culture prevented Valta and Renn from ever realizing what they had and it makes me angry.Cole, after Renn's death:Whup-just came across the first Memories.

Did Solas paint the murals in Vir Dirthara? - 2 views

  •
I doubt Solas painted those murals though. They are made with a similar style to his because that was the elven art of the time. Those who survived in the Vir Dirthara may have decided to show what he had done. Same counts for the Titan's mural (Varric even says: "If this painting is anything like Solas', then it's probably about broody shit"). The only mural we know for sure that Solas painted is his self-portrait in the Qunari's fortress.

is she the Augur of Mysteries? - 0 views

ashleycriesoverelves: canticle-of-apotheosis: tsyele: canticle-of-apotheosis: a few days ago I was trying to figure out the significance of the carving below, which appears as a wall decoration in Suledin Keep. It also turns up as the lid on sarcophagi in the Hissing Wastes and Frostback Basin (among other locales).

How is the Inquisition funded? - 1 views

How is the Inquisition funded? So @casualbutthole (A+ name btw) asked me a really good question:Hey so I’ve been wondering something about dai for a while now and I figured you might best know the answer, or at least know where to point me to but….(and sorry if this is a dumb question)…where does the inquisition get enough money to…exist?

Sudden Red Lyrium realization - 4 views

  •
I was just sitting there thinking about red lyrium, and about how Bianca said that this is regular lyrium that carries the Blight. But then I remembered something from Dragon Age II that suddenly blows the top off of everything we thought we knew about the blight.

Preparation of lyrium for internal use - 0 views

  •
Hi! This is a weird question, but um. I was just watching Champions of the Just, and the scene where Barris drinks the lyrium confused the hell out of me -- the lyrium kit Cullen has in Perseverance looks like it's more for something taken like heroin, injected or snorted, but then they just...

It's quite noteworthy that dwarves actually hold political power in Tevinter. - 0 views

  •
Dorian: Back home, you see dwarves everywhere… and not just from the Ambassadoria. Rather odd how, in the South, everyone thinks of dwarves as merchants. Limited view, in my opinion.

Sacred Mountains and the Resurrection of Leliana - 1 views

  •
The end of Trespasser revealed that if you killed Leliana in Origins, she will become a lyrium ghost. A spirit made flesh, similiar to Cole, by the lyrium in the mountain where the urn of Sacred Ashes is located. Maybe representing Faith, like Wynne? This was kind of hinted at in Origins, when Oghren questioned what is was that was keeping the Guardian alive.

Golems of Amgarrak for Those Who Care... XD - 0 views

  •
I've been doing a LOT of work lately on Golems of Amgarrak DLC, including lore, theory, codex reviewing, and mapping. Honestly, the maps turned out amazing. And I really should just share them. So...all the rest of it aside for a moment, I present MORE DEEP ROADS MAPS! XD.

What's so bad about supporting Templars? - 0 views

  •
What's so bad about supporting Templars? There are pros and cons to supporting both sides so I don't see such a big deal about it. I mean yeah, they're kind of assholes, okay they're HUGE assholes, for imprisoning mages and all that shazzam but what I've seen throughout each game is the mages not giving the Templars good reasons to NOT keep them in the Circles. (Now with added commentary on why the Circles may have been a good idea in their time, but are no longer.)

Thedas and The Song - 1 views

  •
Go anywhere in Dragon Age lore and sooner or later you run into The Song. Lyrium sings. The Calling sings. The Golden City used to sing, according to the Chant, which is itself a song. And so on.

A History of Highever - 0 views

  •
How much canon info is there about Highever? I haven't been able to find much apart from: It has an alienage, is by the coast and makes a signature kind of cloth (wool industry?). How big is the city? Is it near/around Castle Cousland? Does it have a harbour?

Thedosian Medicine - 0 views

  •
*kicks in door* I HEARD GERM THEORY WHAT Here are my two cents: If we assume that Skyhold is eventually the home of some of the best Thedas has to offer, I'm inclined to believe germ theory isn't prevalent in their medicine. Given the existence of the surgeon hanging around, and the fact that I don't see any traces of microscopes in the Thedas that we know, there's no hint to imply that Theodosians are even aware of the possibility. And why should they? We're told that Theodosians bar Qunari are heavily reliant on magic; the study of non-magical science itself is most likely stunted from this.

Vivienne: her Age and Fears - 0 views

  •
As a preface: at her youngest, Vivienne is 44 years old. This is calculated by noting that she was 19 when she transferred to Montsimmard, and she was considered 'young' in 9:16 Dragon when she met Bastien.

Old God Prisons - 2 views

  •
The more time goes by, the more I desperately want to see an Old God prison for myself. There's a note you can find in the Western Approach that reads as follows: "So close. We nearly reached him. Made it down to what looked like a dwarven thaig where the song was actually audible, real and thrumming through the air, not just in our heads. It rattled through the lyrium pillars and shook the earth beneath our feet to its dreadful tempo. We lost thirty men in the last cave-in, and the Warden-Commander is abandoning the mission. I tried to argue for one last push, but the rock is too unstable down there. We'll have to find another Archdemon somewhere solid."

Master Reference Post: Mythal the Dragon Queen - 2 views

  •
"Alas, so long as the music plays, we dance."A master reference list of what we know so far about the scary dragon lady and her impact on the world of Thedas. Said impact is pretty far reaching so expect spoilers for all three dragon age games and probably all of the DLC, including Trespasser and the Descent.
