Deep Roads Maps V.2 (part 1/3) - 0 views

  •
These maps are actually the real in game maps overlaid onto the Deep Roads map at the locations where they line up. This means where they fit into spaces allotted (like with Bownammar), or where the approaching Deep Roads actually match up with those in the maps (such as with Cadash - there's a weird turn at the end of that road that you can see there and line up).

Deep Roads Maps V2 (part 2/3) - 0 views

The Inquisition maps, compiled and taking into account where different levels align up and down, used for placements on the map. Again, we know the Flooded Caves are located in/around Crestwood. We know exactly where the Deep Roads edge of the Heidrun Thaig in Descent emerges from the Fissure because of the map in Inquisition. We know where Kal'Hirol emerges thanks to Kal'Hirol's appearance in Dragon Age Awakenings. And Valammar is located south of Redcliffe. Also provided is a full map of the different levels of Orzammar, up close.

How does Redcliffe village work? - 0 views

  •
I look in wonder at your skills with Thedas' map. I have a problem I wish I had an answer to: How does Redcliffe village work? We get different maps for it in DAO and in DAI (supposed eastern part) and they don't seem to fit together. I can also not make heads or tails of Redcliff's supposed location on the world map (like with position of rivers/lake) in relation to the mini map in, say DAI. Nothing seems to add up. Could you help me make sense of this? Maybe maps need some turning or sth.? Nothing about the geographical lore of Redcliffe makes any sense. For example, the codex entry used both in Origins and Inquisition is full of nonsensical statements.

Unofficial Consolidated Maps of Ferelden - 2 views

Two maps for everyone, using all known sources I could find for locations in Ferelden throughout the games. That includes the "blank" map that I used for the base of these two (the first map available on the wikia), an alternate base that has some of the location markers (from the RPG, I believe), the quest-marker map from DA:O, Awakening's quest-marker map, Dragon Age: Legends, World of Thedas Vol 1, and Inquisition's war table and world maps.

DEEP ROADS MAP V.2 (part 3/3) - 1 views

  •
We know the original Deep Roads Map given to us in game was a handdrawn map worked up by either Harrowmont or Bhelen supporters (because they tell us it is). This means there's a bit of room for human error in layouts (which we see in the overlays - I've dedicated a different post to that part). It means also that there's still no reason to suspect that we have a compass rose in that bottom righthand corner (it's not), and we should instead following the clues we are given as to the location of Thaigs, both on the map and in context throughout the lore.

Annotations to the Deep Roads map - 0 views

So, here's a screenshot of @higheverrains's Deep Roads map overlaid on the SVG Map of Thedas. I'm gonna open with the general assumption this is more or less correct, but it only covers the parts of the deep roads from Origins. There's three more points in Ferelden that I'm … relatively sure of, and I offer the maps from Inquisition and Awakening to back that up.

Dragon Age Combined Maps: Speculative Locations - 0 views

Well, this has been sitting untouched on my hard drive for ages, so I may as well throw it up! Top image is Ferelden and eastern Orlais, using the newest base map from Inquisition. Bottom left is all of Orlais (and some of Nevarra). Bottom right is the version of the top image that I prefer, but because of the overlay of the DAO/RPG map it is busier to look at.

So, the next time you're looking at the SVG Map of Thedas and wondering how long it takes to get between two points, start counting boxes and use this list to help yourself around that problem:

Redcliffe Doesn't Go There: an exploration of Fereldan geography - 0 views

  •
Redcliffe has really fucking obviously been moved from where it was intended to be, initially. Assuming the 'sole land route' into Ferelden is Gherlen's Pass, as it's the only road through the Frostbacks that's marked on maps, then Redcliffe is nowhere near it, and you can dodge West Hill, Highever, and Amaranthine, before riding into Denerim in a straight line along the North Road without ever passing Redcliffe. The southern route takes one straight through Redcliffe, Lothering, and South Reach, before reaching Denerim, which is a moronic thing to do with an invading army which is probably intent on sacking the capital.

Golems of Amgarrak for Those Who Care... XD - 0 views

  •
I've been doing a LOT of work lately on Golems of Amgarrak DLC, including lore, theory, codex reviewing, and mapping. Honestly, the maps turned out amazing. And I really should just share them. So...all the rest of it aside for a moment, I present MORE DEEP ROADS MAPS! XD.

Deep Roads Overlay Map - 2 views

So, back in one of the earlier books of Dances in Darkness, I mentioned I had taken awhile writing because I was trying to work out all the locations of the Thaigs and Deep Roads relative to the surface. We know that the dwarven empire once spanned almost all of Thedas. So here's the result...

NOTES: Distance Grids: 30km is the approximate distance a human can travel on foot in a day. 60km is the approximate distance a horse can travel in a day. Speed and daily distance may vary depending on terrain, weather, physical fitness, total length of journey, and other factors. * Based on the assumption that Bioware devs' statement that Ferelden is roughly the size of England is correct. ** Based on the fact that Thedas seems like it should be s l i g h t l y larger (and not much else tbh). If you'd like to see your own calculations included as a distance grid, please contact me via the information in "Contribute" at the top of the page
