Zevran's Fade nightmare - 0 views

  •
    > So Zevran's nightmare in The Fade that's actually what he went through to become a Crow? > Cos the codex on the mission says his nightmare was him reliving his Crow initiation. All your other companions are experiencing just plain old nightmares but the fact that the worse nightmare the Sloth Demon could construct for Zevran wasn't something fake, but something he actually lived through is so awful and I'm gonna cry. > At least within, say, Alistair's nightmare he was happy for a bit until the warden arrived and informed him that it wasn't real, that demons were twisting his perception. but Zevran doesn't get that. His life has been filled with so much pain that I don't think the Sloth Demon would've even bothered to dig down far enough to find what would make him happy enough to stay entranced under a lesser demon's powers. Instead, he uses pain to control him, because that's what people have always used to control him. My read on the Sloth Demon is less about happy or pain and more like a distraction. Sloth is lethargy, something that prevents you from doing what needs to be done, a distraction from the task at hand.

The Song/s - 0 views

  •
"Song" is obviously central to the magical nature of Thedas. Sometimes these songs might be the same, and sometimes they're clearly different. I'm not speculating right now, just getting it all in one place. Things that Sing: The Calling/the Taint, lyrium, red lyrium, Titans, the Stone, and the Chant of Light. Also, the Fade?? Am I missing anything?

Some (elf-centric) details from the Dragon Age Tabletop RPG materials. - 1 views

  •
The earliest written main quest module is "Dalish Curse" a story about a Dalish elf who becomes possessed by a rage demon, and calls himself "Mythallen" - "child of vengeance." (here is the wiki page for Mythallen, which goes into more detail)

Solas, on the subject of elves - 1 views

  •
Anonymous asked: Solas is always talking about HIS people and he feels little kinship with the dailish or city elves, and yet with Sera he does talk about OUR people? Been a while since I played but it felt like he tried to remind her about her elfiness all the time (big spoilers for Inquisition, also speculation) It's very interesting, isn't it? Solas' kinship (or non-kinship) with other elves is something that he's ultra contradictory about through the whole game.

The Skin that Stalks: Notes on Methods of Enchantment - 1 views

  •
As cool as the armor looks, can we talk for a second about just how creepy this is? And the stylized halla stamp…Ghilan'nain, what did you do? [x] The writing on these papers aches to be looked at, shimmering slightly as if under an enchantment. The notes are handwritten, but each letter is as perfectly uniform as from a printing press: ... >>(Though this is tagged Ghilan'nain, the tag is pure speculation based on the halla seal.)

So what do you think The Guardian is? - 0 views

  •
    > So what do you think The Guardian is? It's from one of Valta's Codex entries and it's...enlightening to be sure. Wow okay thinking about this gave me some really interesting new thoughts re: dwarves, dwarf spirits, and the Stone. Specifically, I am now 100% convinced that not all spirits come from, or return to, the Fade...

Here are my thoughts on Cullen and his hypocrisy. (JaneArts) - 1 views

  •
    > What's your thoughts on Cullen being a total hypocrite with the way he treats others for shit he did himself eg. Samson and Denam. Let's first start by making my feelings about his character clear: I really love Cullen as a character. He resonates with me because a lot of his "solution-oriented" behaviour reminds me of myself (for example, a nose-to-the-grindstone work ethic that doubles as a defence and coping mechanism). As a result, I feel like I can empathise with him and "read" him better. I want to establish this so that you know that the words that follow do not come from a place of ill-will or hate. For the sake of brevity-and if you follow me and my work you know that this is a life-long struggle of mine-I will review one way in which I thought Cullen could be seen as hypocritical and then I will cover my thoughts and feelings on the matter.

The Why of Cullen: responses to this ask - 3 views

  •
I think the worst case of picking to ignore shitty things characters have done is the fact that Cullen would literally commit mage genocide if he could in Dao and da2. If he becomes knight commander in Dao it's said he's worse than any previous one, but the Fandom acts like he's so innocent and even goes as far as to ship him with dorian. They cleaned him up a lot for inquisition .

Solas and the Ninth Sacred Mountain - 1 views

  •
I can't believe… … they tell us what Solas' foci really is before we even see it. Or, should I say, they remind us what it is. The following codex is found in the Mountainside Caverns in Haven in DA: Origins, and in Haven's tavern in DA: Inquisition.

Why Wynne is not OOC in Asunder - 1 views

  •
I have a question. Everything I've seen from Asunder has Wynne as super OOC (I've never read it) and that's either A bad writing (Which I doubt) B I completely misread Wynne in DA:O or C She had some form of huge impactful revelation. I've literally been watching and reading dialogue for like 2 hours so far trying to figure out what I missed and this is driving me nuts so did A Thing™ happen or did I completely and utterly misread her? Because Wynne tearing down the circle seems a bit new to me.

The Fall of the Dales, Chantry edition - 0 views

  •
Anonymous asked: (Dales asker) I stand Corrected WRT The chantry/Orlais relationship. I forgot how new the Chantry was then. The other part (sorry it was lost) was about how the Alienages were a compromise. The Orlesians seemed to want total nullification of the Dalish citizenry, but that may have been Chantry propaganda. Perhaps the Orlesian army never wanted to de-populate the Dales (Ser Brandis didn't). But my main question was, what SHOULD the Chantry have done, both after victory and when Montsimmard fell?

So are we gonna talk about how Solas totally banged the wisdom spirit or what? - 0 views

  •
Banter between Blackwall and Solas: Blackwall: Sera and I were just talking about you. We need you to settle a question for us. Solas: (Sighs.) Sera's involved? So this question will be offensive. Blackwall: Yes, probably. Sorry. Blackwall: You make friends with spirits in the Fade. So… um, are there any that are more than just friends? Blackwall: If you know what I mean. Solas: Oh, for… really?! Blackwall: Look, it's a natural thing to be curious about! Solas: For a twelve-year-old! Blackwall: It's a simple yes or no question! Solas: Nothing about the Fade or spirits is simple, especially not that. Blackwall: Aha! So you do have experience in these matters! Solas: I did not say that. Blackwall: Don't panic. It'll be our little secret. Solas: Ass. Blackwall: Now who's twelve? All I'm saying is that's not a no.

The Scaled Ones - 1 views

  •
i had a quick look with the tag search and nothing came up/i haven't seen any discussion, so: the scaled ones. i have (but haven't played all) the DLC, but being unconcerned about spoilers at this stage i was poking around and looking at theories, and i know there's not a lot of canon info, but any thoughts? if there was anywhere i thought things were going, i didn't think it was "probably evil underground lizards"?!

Why the Chantry Boom? - 0 views

  •
I've been replaying da2 and there's something that Anders says at the beginning of Dissent that really stood out to me because of the amount of people who think that the Chantry explosion wasn't justified because so many people died, and that violence wasn't necessary, and that those deaths weren't necessary, etc. Dissent is during Act 2. That's three years before the Chantry explosion, and things were already beyond fucking awful.

and if we take into account how surprised solas is that cole could take human form so simply, it makes you think that even in his time it was rare, forced or some other medium was required for the transition. (btw sorry for spamming your inbox but thank you for indulging my theories <3)

Transcription of the conversation where Krem approaches the Inquisitor in Haven - 1 views

I'm going to make a tag at some point for my writing notes and transcriptions (probably something clever like "writing notes and transcriptions"), but for now, have this transcription of the conversation where Krem approaches the Inquisitor in Haven.

I'll try a little live-blogging of Descent today (Part II) - 0 views

  •
Alright, time to continue my Descent notes from the last post. Man I kinda wish I had notes like this for more stuff. So-screens, conversations, and lore observations (and some shitty jokes probably) below the cut. So when we left off we'd just walked in and seen the "heart" of the Titan, and this conversation ensues:

From World of Thedas, Vol. 1 - What have the dwarves of Kal-Sharok done? - 0 views

From World of Thedas, Vol. 1 - What have the dwarves of Kal-Sharok done? Have they made some kind of deal with intelligent darkspawn? Are they themselves tainted? I need to go to there!
