Tag things. Tag them well. Tag them thoroughly. Ask yourself, 'Why would someone want to know this information?' and tag appropriately.
If your tags have spaces in them, enclose the whole tag in "double quotes".
So, I'm still trying to get things correctly categorised, but here's a few basics:
* animal:whatever - Symbolism of animals, canonical uses for animals, any animal stuff goes in here. I'm kind of expecting wolves, dragons, and halla, as the obvious ones.
* character:whatever - For a specific character. These are always single-person tags and refer to people, but generally not to gods (Except Solas. Because he has to be difficult.)
* culture:whatever - A named group of people sharing the same or similar beliefs, for instance, the Avvar, the Dalish, the Orlesians.
* dates - If you're doing timeline or calendar stuff, the tags you want are in the 'dates' set.
* event:whatever - Events, like the Fifth Blight or the Conclave.
* geography - Geography of Thedas in all its multitudinous permutations goes here. There's a subtag for 'travel time' if you're into that.
* gods:whatever - A pantheon or individual god. So, both 'gods:evanuris' and 'gods:urthemiel' would be correct uses.
* item:whatever - Specific items with unusual lore or functions. Item as in stuff you can pick up. IDFK what to do with the Tevinter Death Array from Awakening, so let's call that 'place:drake's fall'.
* language:whatever - This one should be a given. If it's speculation or documentation on a canon language, it gets one of these. For the record, the Tevinter language is called 'Tevene', noted because I have seen so many attempts to call it something else.
* magic:whatever - Specific schools of magic. There's also a general 'magic' tag, for the concept.
* org:whatever - An 'org' tag is for an organization, like the Templars or the Crows.
* people:whatever - A set of people not generally considered a culture or an organization, like the Tranquil, or the Seven Sidereal Magisters.
* place: whatever - Location, location, location! This can be anything from a nation (Orlais) to a natural feature (Brecilian forest), a city (Kirkwall), an important building (Château Haine) -- if you can go there, it's a place.
* race:whatever - Humans, dwarves, elves, qunari, kossith, fex, and sha-brytol, that I am aware of. This should not be put on meta for specific characters, but only for meta in reference to the whole group, like 'What happened to the dwarves when the titans fell?' because that would not have been localised, but it would be dwarf-specific. Or 'What became of the elves between the rise of the Veil and the fall of Arlathan?'
