Fabien Cousteau - Extraordinary People Changing the Game - 0 views

  •
Fabien Cousteau is an aquanaut, just like his grandfather and father. But more than just exploring the oceans to unlock its mystery, Fabien dove the extra mile by launching his Plant A Fish organization. It aims to educate the youth about the importance of protecting our waters and as its name suggests, inspire them to do their share of creating a sustainable habitat for fishing. To honor his late grandfather's 100th birthday, he directs Mission 31. He and his research team will stay under the Florida Keys for 31 days to thoroughly study the current state of our waters. To read more about Fabien Cousteau visit www.thextraordinary.org.

An Introduction to Design Thinking (Part 1) - 0 views

  •
'Design Thinking' might just be the next 'new' old thing in education. In her recent address to the National Press Club, Catherine Livingstone of The Business Council of Australia included 'Design Thinking' amongst the critical STEM skills required for Australia's future. But what do we mean by 'Design Thinking' and why should educators be interested?

Maths Maps - A New Collaborative Project | edte.ch - 17 views

  • Maths Maps – A New Collaborative Project
  • Some background Four years ago I created Google Earth resources for the classroom and posted them to the GE Community Forum. Two of them were called Maths in Madrid and Maths in Las Vegas. These were based on the fact that there is maths all around us, every day, everywhere we look. Google Earth (and Maps) gives us a great perspective on it all. It also provides easy access for our students to see rich visual content that depicts everyday maths. I have always loved the idea of children seeing the maths they are working on. The only issue with Google Earth is that it is restrictive in two ways. It is not browser based and it is impossible for me to create a resource for others to collaborate on.
