This post argues that not so much (found it through Stephen Downes and he didn't necessarily agree with all of this... I think we should in our attempts to teach people to learn better explore and improve learning in the variety of ways they are likely encounter in life. Then they can either become more proficient at learning in different ways, or learn to adapt what is available to them in a way that they prefer or need, etc.
