This very short summary would be a valuable resource to share with teachers who are reluctant to consider project-based learning. It addresses some of the concerns teachers may have about PBL, including student learning of content knowledge, student engagement and motivation, and outcomes with at-risk learners.

After reading about PBL I decided I wanted to explore some ideas out there relating to math. I quickly stumbled upon this resource that has six different projects that are all grounded in math. Thanks for sharing this! Math is my passion too and sometimes PBL for math is hard to come by especially for non-statistics topics.

In this project students used three-dimensional geometry, calculus, physics, art, and woodworking skills to design, explain, and construct books, posters, chairs, and lamps people would actually want in their homes.

This would make a good starting point for a project I have in mind for my statistics for the social sciences class!

Choosing an end product with project-based learning can be challenging due to the sheer number of possibilities. To encourage high-level products, it is benificial to know your students' interests and learning styles. We thought it would be helpful to some to jump start the creative process by listing a few project-based learning ideas that we've seen put into action.

I went to the AECT.org site to see what it had about project-based learning. AECT stands for Association for Educational Communications and Technology. It is a professional organization for people interested in educational technology. I first checked out its "divisions" to see if it had one dedicated to PBL (it does not). I eventually searched the site for the term, which surprisingly only resulted a few hits. One was an interview with Dr. Krista Glazewski, who serves as the editor for Interdisciplinary Journal of Problem-Based Learning (IJPBL). I was curious to see if that journal would include the topic of PROJECT-based learning, and it does. The interview was informative because it talks about the three main areas this journal covers (research, conceptual pieces, and "voices from the field"). Professor Glazewski explains that it is an open access journal, committed to remaining free to contributors and readers. (the first 10 minutes was especially informative)
