Good article for the beginner on starting PBL in the classroom. This might be a great jumping off point.

After reading about PBL I decided I wanted to explore some ideas out there relating to math. I quickly stumbled upon this resource that has six different projects that are all grounded in math. This project could easily be adapted to become more than it is. This project integrates written and oral language skills along with math to help students understand what makes a business successful. Kids are interested in making money, so why not let them come up with a business idea?

Although this project was created using the old PBL standard the basic components of civic responsibility for second graders can be applied to professional responsibility for respiratory therapy students. The project provides a useful template from which to build my grade and content specific content for improving safety in healthcare. The projects involves: Second graders are ready to conquer the world-and they can start with their community. In Make a Difference: Civic Responsibility, elementary school students partner with local organizations to fill a real need, help a specific population, engage in public service, and make a tangible difference in their neighborhoods and beyond.

Possibly a very good way to introduce the concept of project based learning.  Young children love to create/play with just a "box".

A really interesting mini-documentary about a 100% PBL school in Texas. The video goes step-by-step through the PBL implementation process under state standards.

I used this resource frequently when teaching PBL focused Technology to K-5th. It has many great resources including innovative digital tools, project ideas, etc. and search functions, by content area, by project type, etc. I often referred to it when needing to come up with a new project or tool to execute a project.
