At its core, PBL is focused on important knowledge and concepts derived from standards, and skills valuable for today's world, such as critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.

A Gardener's Dilemma Project Idea: Students act as community members and set aside plots of land for local citizens to establish small gardens.Students will design a plan for a family garden plot. I will adapt this PBL to include technology, ELA, Science and of course, Mathematics for elementary students. I like that it is a real-world skill, affecting everyone and involves community planning.

In January I had a chance to attend a conference with many teachers from High Tech High. I am planning to do a site visit when I go to San Diego in October.

The students will recognize how people make a difference in the world by researching the volunteer work of others and showing others what they have learned.

This is a PBL project that can easily be integrated into my multimedia class. Students could find clients in the community or within the school create a video which meets the specific needs of each client.

Create story books with super easy tools. Publish your own hardcover or paperback books. Promote them to our worldwide community.

Project-Based learning

Although this project was created using the old PBL standard the basic components of civic responsibility for second graders can be applied to professional responsibility for respiratory therapy students. The project provides a useful template from which to build my grade and content specific content for improving safety in healthcare. The projects involves: Second graders are ready to conquer the world-and they can start with their community. In Make a Difference: Civic Responsibility, elementary school students partner with local organizations to fill a real need, help a specific population, engage in public service, and make a tangible difference in their neighborhoods and beyond.

What is it? The first graders will investigate the age-old adage: You are what you eat. They will learn about how to promote a healthy lifestyle for themselves, their families, and the community. Students will begin by thinking about what it means to be healthy and think about things that they do to be healthy.

I thought this was an interesting read. It talks about building teams that include a variety of personality styles.
