This site has an abundance of resources for incorporating PBL into math.

On the Wikipedia website about PBL it says that teaching math using PBL is one of the controversial topics because math is a skill-based subject. As a math teacher I was impressed with the amount of resources out there for PBL and math.

Welcome this first of a four part series intended to provide Math teachers with some outstanding PBL resources. This is slightly off-center for PBL, but the students love combining simulations with project-based, and this is a really fun way to do it.

This was a great doctoral thesis featuring a high school involving PBL and its correlation with the Science, Technology, and Math concentrations. It was well written with a great literature review, descriptive definitions and pictures/graphics throughout. This thesis is a great resource for statistics and research regarding PBL.

This article from the Journal of STEM Education presents teachers (who don't normally experience what is like to work in fields outside of education) who took part in externships in STEM jobs so they could learn for themselves exactly the types of scenarios their students might encounter. The results drove authenticity in their PBL teaching. I think it's important for teachers to truly understand these demands, and not just read about them. If we provide these contextualized environments for our students because we believe it's best for their learning, why don't we work toward providing those same experiences for ourselves? This is a great site that lets you easily search for PBL ideas/lesson plans by grade level and subject matter areas.

This PBL requires students to use persuasive techniques to create an advertisement of a product they have created. It could be modified to include an analysis of how advertisements affect our choices.

A great project to see how gas prices affect how people spend their money

This project attempted to merge mathematical principles with European geography in order to appeal to a wide variety of students. The project was designed for 6 and 7 year old students and coordinated by Ayca Oguz.

Great collaborative project for elementary students using technology tools. Students even collaborate across continents!

Very interesting project based on how food and food culture can introduce students to other cultures.
