Racist Arizona Law - 4 views

  •
The state that brought you the chain-gang enforcing Sheriff Joseph Arpaio, the "show me your papers" immigration law, and racial profiling is proud to present its latest hit: a law prohibiting sex and raced-based abortion, based on lies and stereotypes about black and Asian women. The woman and doctor must also sign an affidavit stating the reason the woman wants an abortion has nothing to do with the race or sex of the embryo or fetus.

Wow, I honestly had no idea this was going on. The law prohibits abortions based on the sex or race of the fetus or embryo, This is an extreme injustice! I can't believe we still face this kind of inequality.

One constitutional controversy raging in public schools today concerns mandatory school uniforms and dress codes. Proponents contend such measures instill discipline and prevent gang-related violence. They say uniforms and some dress codes lessen peer pressure aggravated by socioeconomic divisions, promote a unity of spirit and help administrators more quickly identify trespassers on school grounds.

What the Arpaio pardon means for civil rights - High Country News - 3 views

  •
This article goes over the recent pardon of Arpaio and how it risks future racial profiling and violation of rights for citizens. Arpaio demonstrated harsh practices like keeping inmates outside in scorching summers, and working in chain gangs. He has already been in contempt of court for racial profiling and violating citizens' Fourth Amendment rights.

I'm not sure this Arpaio pardon will encourage others to racial profile for immigration purposes. Arpaio was the lead candidate for this kind of behavior and I'm not sure others are rushing to follow his footsteps .
