Next 10 Amendments: Flag burning and protected free speech - 1 views

  •
Is burning or desecrating the American flag a right protected by the First Amendment? Or should a new constitutional amendment outlaw both acts? The issue of desecrating the flag goes back in the courts almost 100 years. Finally in 1989, the Supreme Court decided in Texas v.

I was watching a lecture by Michael Parenti on this subject. A few people would argue that there are other bigger problems our nation should address before this issue, but I argue that this topic is important too. Nice read.

It is interesting to know that this has been a problem for almost 100 years it amazing. In my own opinion I feel it is disrespectful to Americans and our military. On the other hand I can see where some would think it is a right for the 1st Amendment.

I do not think that burning the American flag is really effective as it only makes others mad. I think that people should protest if they are upset about something or believe something is unfair. I do not think that people should protest violently/aggressively, though. A lot of people protest peacefully, but some do protest violently- which only puts a harsh look on the whole situation.

I understand that there is a lot wrong with this country and people have a right to be upset with our government and how the country is right now. I feel that the flag symbolizes much more than just our country. I feel like it stands for every man and woman fighting for this country in the military. The flag symbolizes the military people that have died for us. I feel like buring the flag is complete disrespect to those that have died for our country and their families. There are so many ways to protest your beliefs about the country, there is no need to burn the flag that I feel represents the honor of those that have died for our country.

This website is about both sides of it should be illegal and should be legal. i believe that it is important to get both sides on a conflict.

There are so many ethical codes that were meant to be followed and are not. One that struck me was the wearing of the flag on clothing. I have recently had to discussion with friends of the encompassing power of the flag that I previously thought was irrelevant to me. It is more than a symbol in that it represents all who live in the country regardless of what we do to it.

NFL Boycott: Different Reasons, Same Outcome - 0 views

  •
In this article, the reality of fans boycotting the National Football League is discussed. Apparently, most of them are protesting in support of President Trump, America, Patriotism, etc. On the other hand, some people are protesting in support of those who are choosing to not honor our flag, anthem, country, etc.

This article is really one of the best I've read about everything going on with the NFL lately. Either way, everyone is upset with one another and nothing is really happening and this article really helps to bring that point across well. I agree with the journalist's opinion.

CPS Failed - 3 views

  •
This article is just upsetting. CPS failed to remove 3 children from their caregivers home after an officer reported concern, several other reports, and signs of neglect. Unfortunately, today only one of the three siblings are alive. CPS should be accountable.

CPS should be accountable absolutely! In my opinion CPS pursues may cases that are unjustified and neglect the more serious cases that may take a bit more work. It is appalling.
  •
This story is upsetting. Within the first visit from a social worker there were countless red flags indicating the house is unsafe. The children probably feared of what the guardian would do if they spoke up. I feel all three of the children were too young and traumatized to even know what was going on. CPS should have taken these children into custody immediately, two lives could have been saved. Or at least do a random check up frequently to get a better outlook on the situation.
  •
This article is so heartbreaking. CPS should have done something from the beginning when they first started noticing abuse. I have experience with a bad social worker before when I was fostering a child. She was suppose to come every month to check on him but wouldn't show up for months. CPS needs to find a solution to get these social workers to do there jobs to protect these children.
  •
is heartbreaking how a little mistake can change a lot of people's life. In this case 2 children are death. CPS need to have professional workers that know how to identify the emotions of the kids. This case show us how life is unfair with some people and how sad it can be when some people don't do their job right.
