What Is Digital Citizenship? - Burlington HS Student-built Site - 0 views

  •
Students at Burlington HS took on the task of learning about Digitla Citizenship and built this site. I love how students interviewed teachers and students, and also the school principal, and also posted examples of good/bad practices. Points to the fact we need to work on this concept and that of a "Digital Footprint"

  •
Anne Hinchcliff shared this great article that I think will help clarify for school admin., tech coordinators, teachers, students, etc. what our responsibilities and roles are in digital citizenship with regard to appropriate content. BalancedFiltering.org is a grassroots campaign to promote balanced content filtering in schools which complies with the law, promotes accountability, and encourages responsible digital citizenship.

How is it this video (or others) went "viral". Turns out it may be profit driven more than "outrage" at education and a demonstration of poor digital citizenship. Audrey Watters will give you a perspective that is informative and eye-opening. It will help you to better understand, as well, the power of social media in the construction of "truth".

NEA - Rights Watch - #Mauled on MySpace - 0 views

  •
Two landmark decisions this summer have greatly expanded the free speech rights of students in cyberspace. Unfortunately, educators who are the victims of vicious personal attacks posted on the web by spiteful students may have little legal recourse. Both cases arose in Pennsylvania and were decided by the Third Circuit Court of Appeals on June 13, this year.
