Teachers Pay Teachers is an open martketplace for educators who wish to share, sell, and buy resources, images, clipart, fonts, graphics and more created by fellow educators. The majority of this content is created specifically for instructional purposes rather than for student use. Users do not have to join to view content, but do need a free membership to download purchases. There is a huge gallery of free resources for download, accessed via the 'See What's Free' button on the homepage. Thusly, it is best to locate terms of use on a teacher by teacher basis.

Beautifully rendered digital content including clipart, photos, fonts, templates, illustrations and more appropriate for student view and use but best suited to a teacher's purposes e.g. avatars for student labels or images for multimedia presentations. While the majority of materials on this site are not free, they DO offer free goods from featured artists every week! No membership fee is required. World images has recently added over 3000 images in a variety of areas including art and architecture, politics, exploration, and technology. This site would be an awesome site for history. There are cities from which to choose, art techniques, connecting art and science, and cultures.

Offers digital photos of cars organized by make and model. The car pictures are of reasonably good quality. This could potentially be suitable for high school or college automotive classes, economics classes, or even environmental science classes. The resources could be used in Digital stories, Prezi, and PowerPoints. They could be imbedded in other virtual documents, or Educational websites, provided the licensing agreement was followed. The photos are royalty-free and there are no fees. Potential Problems and solutions: The problems lie not with the photo repositories themselves, but rather lie in the educator's own ability to think creatively, and to work with raw digital materials. I can think of no better solution than for an educator to spend time examining how the available resources can be used to encourage a student to think about the subject matter. A teacher can plan for an elaborate lesson but discover there is a dearth of photo content; therefore, since time and money are not unlimited, the teacher would be wise to consider this before planning a lesson. Further, a teacher would be wise to search for as many resources as possible and add them to a list, as we have done for this assignment. Quality: B All viewed photos are of good quality, though they tend to vary in resolution. Using such images may require a bit of creativity.

Images on this site are under creative commons and are free to use on web sites and other projects. There are many, many types of animals on this site. There are probably animals listed that the children have not even thought of before. The animals are alphabetically listed, with many detailed animals under the broad list of animals. An example is parakeets. Then are many types of parakeets from which the children can choose. They also have animals broken down into types of primates, rodents, mammals etc. I don't really see a difficulty with this site. It seems pretty straight forward and easy to use.

Pictures of Animals -- Animal Photos! This website contains pictures of animals listed in alphabetical order. Some of the pictures may lack that professional quality, but the list is long. It is a great website for science, social studies, language arts and elementary school projects. This website is listed under the Creative Commons as free to use on websites and other projects. One especially nice feature which makes it great for younger students to easily give credit is that it provides the crediting information for you, simply copy and paste the html code or the name of the source.

Ookaboo provides almost one million images that are searchable by concepts. The pictures are licensed under various Creative Commons licenses or are public domain, and are free to use for educational and other non-commercial use. This site would be great to use for high school students in a variety of subjects: world history, U.S. history, biology and environmental science. It could also be used for middle school geography classes. The photos appear to be of very good quality, and the website is easy to use.

This site offers free downloads to music offered up by various artists for use in video projects both commercial and personal. If the music is to be used for commercial use, Jamendo simply reminds its users that all artists are protected under the Creative Commons License. I covered this license in my other post, however this license isn't only about attribution. The license allows the creator of the content to identify the exact usage for their material in commercial use. This allows the downloader of the music to still download the music for free, but with a blanket of customized protection for the artist. The audience I would use this site with would again be a high school broadcasting class. Many high school newscasts that are shown within the school every morning do not follow copyright laws. If the students producing these newscasts used Jamendo to download the music content for the newscast, the students would not only stay legal, but learn a very important broadcasting rule that would stick with them throughout their career. The quality of the content on Jamendo is mostly very well done. However, as with any music website, most of the music downloaded depends on user preferences. The production quality is usually very well done since these artists are attempting to push their music to the public to get their sound and style of music to the larger audiences.

This site provides free, stock video footage for users to download for commercial or personal use. This website though offers a different kind of stock video as well, motion graphics. Videvo offers a large library of basic motion graphics that are fantastic small additions or final edits to a video project. This site provides stock motion graphics that on the surface, seem very simple, yet are very complicated to build without knowledge of a program such as After Effects or Motion. The best audience for this site would be a high school broadcasting or a graphics class in which some high schools offer with basic skills of the programs previously mentioned. The quality of the video offered on Videvo is for the most part extremely well done. After some research on the site itself, some of the motion graphics do not always have great color detail or motion detail as you would expect in basic motion graphics. Those critiques though should not take away from the great graphics and stock video that is in fact offered on this site. Finally, although the footage and graphics are royalty-free, the website does require that the user attribute the Creative Commons License 3.0 to the author of the content where it is required. Basically, this means that not all of the content on this site requires any attribution whatsoever, but some do ask that users attribute through the Creative Commons License.

Photo Pin is a search engine that allows you to search by tags. Its photos are taken from Flickr using API which searches for creative commons photos. When it opens up, there are check boxes to search for specific license types. Even typing in benign words like sink rendered many photos to choose from and most of the pictures were artistically taken. The images come in various sizes and the HTML code is right there when you open the photo. Be careful not to click on the images above the line. These are sponsored images and will ask for a fee. Some images contained scantily clothed and provocative individuals when a few choice words were entered into the search engine. Because of this, this site should be reserved for high school students only.

This site is more functional than the other two I posted. One of the unique features is its large collection. There are not only objects (photos or illustrations) but also materials/textures available. Another feature is that they have some pull-down menus to narrow down the search. We can select the images by the topic (animal, architectures, etc), dominant colors of the image we want, the number of items we want to see at once, etc. These functions meet the users' needs. The site also asks for donations of the images. The challenge might be the filter set by the districts. Almost all the time this is the case some teachers are discouraged. It is strongly recommended teachers check this site on a school computer before the intended use. If blocked, requesting unblocking may be the next thing to do. Furthermore, as a school or department it may be a good idea to secure several online repositories that are not blocked; therefore, any teachers can use at any time safely for educational purposes. Lesson Example: 3rd grade and above in Visual Arts Direction: In our life there are many signs. Common features of those signs are simplicity (restricted numbers of colors, shapes, lines, etc.) and clearness of a message (directly represented by an object). Suppose you are a professional illustrator and the city has asked you to create a symbol/sign useful to the community. Make sure to provide good reasons to back up your creation. (Ex. how your creation will promote the welfare of the city, reduce the crimes, or promote business, etc.) Search the needs of the city so that your creation is timely and meets the needs of the city. Boasting thousands of digital clip art images, Openclipart does cater to teachers and other working professionals. The collections are sorted for optimum utility. The best part is that the images are all copyright-free and in the public domain, which means that there are no restrictions. There are no perceived limits on usage; resources should be suitable for K-12 and beyond, and useful for Digital stories, Prezis, PowerPoint, imbedding in other virtual documents, and educational websites. This serpent dragon clip art is perfect for use on your fantasy books and magazines, game projects, webpages, school projects, etc. This clip art is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported License which means you must provide credit to the creator of the clip art which is focaclipart.wordpress.com if you plan on using this clip art on your projects. I found lots of clip art images on this site, it was easy to navigate and well organized. I would use this site in my Computer Applications classroom. There are times were Windows don't have the exact clip art you are looking for so this will give them a quick and easy additional resource to locate that special image. I don't foresee any problems with the easy of downloading the image only challenge might be if the site is down for maintenance.

Open Photo is an image related website that displays clipart and photo graphics from across the nation. It is a copyright free resource where individuals have posted their artwork so that others may use it for various purposes. Each is displayed by category and divided into their appropriate sections. It is intended for individuals of all ages. Users do have to create an account and they also are able to research the database for all photos by subject. These graphics can be used and inserted into projects, reports, and websites and used for means related to the user's needs. The graphics is medium to high quality, which is dependent upon the author's pictures and submission of the photo. The photos appear to have the ability to be used in other forms if needed for such use.

I found that the sound quality of the tracks was high quality and each user has easy access to the music. In addition, it's a great tool to use when editing and searching for different styles of music overall.
