We almost never follow recipes to the letter. For this assignment, look at one of the recipes you've used in the past or try out a new one and find some way to improve it. It can be as simple as swapping cumin for mustard seed or it could be complicated enough to change the taste of the dish entirely. Explain what you've done and why. If the recipe is one you found online, bookmark it in this group.

To see an annotated recipe, look at this link:

As you can see, I made a few suggestions for this recipe. First of all, I suggest mincing or slicing the ginger and putting it in a tea ball or cheesecloth to steep with the lentils as they boil. This is because ginger has a very rough texture and can be tricky in a recipe.

I also suggest adding a spoonful of cream cheese to the mix while it is still hot to make the recipe more savory, adding sun-dried or plum tomatoes, and garnishing the dish with cilantro.

I made some suggestions to this recipe for Crock Pot Vegetable Beef Soup:

I've made it with ground turkey instead of beef. I don't typically like ground turkey, but it works in this! And using V8 juice in place of the tomato soup and some of the spices makes it easy and super tasty!

I made some changes to this recipe for Banana Bread.

I have found that using very ripe bananas make the banana bread sweeter. Also, substituting yogurt for sour cream (even though the recipe is called Sour Cream Banana) makes a much more moist bread. Enjoy!
