If you like cooking, you will undoubtedly run into a situation where you'll have to cook for someone with dietary restrictions. It might be a lifestyle choice like vegetarianism, a religious aversion or certain foods, or food allergies, such as a gluten- or peanut-allergy. Instead of meat, add vegan meatballs or soy substitute. Meat substitute may also be left out entirely. If extra substance is needed, add cooked lentils instead of meat or meat substitute.
We almost never follow recipes to the letter. For this assignment, look at one of the recipes you've used in the past or try out a new one and find some way to improve it. It can be as simple as swapping cumin for mustard seed or it could be complicated enough to change the taste of the dish entirely. Explain what you've done and why. If the recipe is one you found online, bookmark it in this group.

As you can see, I made a few suggestions for this recipe. First of all, I suggest mincing or slicing the ginger and putting it in a tea ball or cheesecloth to steep with the lentils as they boil. This is because ginger has a very rough texture and can be tricky in a recipe.
I also suggest adding a spoonful of cream cheese to the mix while it is still hot to make the recipe more savory, adding sun-dried or plum tomatoes, and garnishing the dish with cilantro.
