What is Domain Name Resolution - 0 views

  • What is Domain Name Resolution Introduction When using the Internet most people connect to web sites, ftp servers or other Internet servers by connecting to a domain name, as in www.bleepingcomputer.com. Internet applications, though, do not communicate via domain names, but rather using IP addresses, such as 192.168.1.1. Therefore when you type a domain name in your program that you wish to connect to, your application must first convert it to an IP address that it will use to connect to. The way these hostnames are resolved to their mapped IP address is called Domain Name Resolution. On almost all operating systems whether they be Apple, Linux, Unix, Netware, or Windows the majority of resolutions from domain names to IP addresses are done through a procedure called DNS.

Yes .....we know that Web sites are on servers that has IP adresses like this 217.143.56.12 for example .....this article tell us how the site name [www.google.com] is converted to the IP thanks Mans

  • Hosts File - There is a file called the HOSTS file that you can use to convert domain names to IP addresses. Entries in the HOSTS file override any mappings that would be resolved via a DNS server

I think this is what some spam and adware programs use .... you type a normal site Name but you go yo another site ... i think so !!
  • Netbios - This only applies to Windows machines and will only be used to map names to IP addresses if all previous methods failed. This method will attempt to map the netbios name you are trying to connect to with an IP address.

OpenGL - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - 0 views

  • OpenGL (Open Graphics Library) is a standard specification defining a cross-language, cross-platform API for writing applications that produce 2D and 3D computer graphics. The interface consists of over 250 different function calls which can be used to draw complex three-dimensional scenes from simple primitives. OpenGL was developed by Silicon Graphics Inc. (SGI) in 1992[1] and is widely used in CAD, virtual reality, scientific visualization, information visualization, and flight simulation. It is also used in video games, where it competes with Direct3D on Microsoft Windows platforms (see Direct3D vs. OpenGL). OpenGL is managed by the non-profit technology consortium, the Khronos Group.

  • The OpenGL standard allows individual vendors to provide additional functionality through extensions as new technology is created. Extensions may introduce new functions and new constants, and may relax or remove restrictions on existing OpenGL functions. Each vendor has an alphabetic abbreviation that is used in naming their new functions and constants. For example, NVIDIA's abbreviation (NV) is used in defining their proprietary function glCombinerParameterfvNV() and their constant GL_NORMAL_MAP_NV.

XML Syntax - 0 views

  • XML Stores New Line as LF In Windows applications, a new line is normally stored as a pair of characters: carriage return (CR) and line feed (LF). The character pair bears some resemblance to the typewriter actions of setting a new line. In Unix applications, a new line is normally stored as a LF character. Macintosh applications use only a CR character to store a new line.

Design pattern - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - 0 views

  • A pattern must explain why a particular situation causes problems, and why the proposed solution is considered a good one. Christopher Alexander describes common design problems as arising from "conflicting forces" -- such as the conflict between wanting a room to be sunny and wanting it not to overheat on summer afternoons. A pattern would not tell the designer how many windows to put in the room; instead, it would propose a set of values to guide the designer toward a decision that is best for their particular application. Alexander, for example, suggests that enough windows should be included to direct light all around the room. He considers this a good solution because he believes it increases the enjoyment of the room by its occupants. Other authors might come to different conclusions, if they place higher value on heating costs, or material costs. These values, used by the pattern's author to determine which solution is "best", must also be documented within the pattern. A pattern must also explain when it is applicable. Since two houses may be very different from one another, a design pattern for houses must be broad enough to apply to both of them, but not so vague that it doesn't help the designer make decisions. The range of situations in which a pattern can be used is called its context. Some examples might be "all houses", "all two-story houses", or "all places where people spend time." The context must be documented within the pattern. For instance, in Christopher Alexander's work, bus stops and waiting rooms in a surgery are both part of the context for the pattern "A PLACE TO WAIT."

WireGuard: fast, modern, secure VPN tunnel - 0 views

  •
"WireGuard® is an extremely simple yet fast and modern VPN that utilizes state-of-the-art cryptography. It aims to be faster, simpler, leaner, and more useful than IPsec, while avoiding the massive headache. It intends to be considerably more performant than OpenVPN. WireGuard is designed as a general purpose VPN for running on embedded interfaces and super computers alike, fit for many different circumstances. Initially released for the Linux kernel, it is now cross-platform (Windows, macOS, BSD, iOS, Android) and widely deployable. It is currently under heavy development, but already it might be regarded as the most secure, easiest to use, and simplest VPN solution in the industry."

TCP/IP model questions based Study Material for gate Computer Science - 0 views

TCP/IP protocol based questions for gate computer science exam Q1.What is the difference between transport and session layer of OSI model. Answer: OSI Model Transport Layer The transport layer uses the services provided by the network layer, such as best path selection and logical addressing, to provide end-to-end communication between source and destination. • The transport -layer data stream is a logical connection between the endpoints of a network. • End-to-end control is provided by sliding windows and reliability in sequencing numbers and acknowledgments. The transport layer regulates information flow to ensure end-to-end connectivity between host applications reliably and accurately. • The TCP/ IP protocol of Layer 4 (t transport t layer ) has two protocols. They are TCP and UDP. The transport layer accepts data from the session layer and segments the data for transport across the network. Generally, the transport layer is responsible for making sure that the data is delivered error-free and in the proper sequence. Flow control generally occurs at the transport layer. OSI Model Session Layer The session layer establishes, manages, and terminates communication sessions. Communication sessions consist of service requests and service responses that occur between applications located on different network devices. These requests and responses are coordinated by protocols implemented at the session layer. The session layer establishes, manages, and terminates sessions between applications Functions of the session layer and the different processes that occur as data packets travel through this layer. More specifically, you learned that Communication sessions consist of mini-conversations that occur between applications located on different network devices. Requests and responses are coordinated by protocols implemented at the session layer. • The session layer decides whether to use two-way simultaneous communication or two-way alternate communicati

What's in an HTTP request? - 0 views

  • These headers tell us which web server you were trying to contact.  If that seems odd, bear in mind that many web sites can be "hosted" on a single server, so when the request is received it needs to know which web site you were attempting to access

  • The request method is usually either "GET" or "POST".  Basically if you fill in and submit a form on a web page it might generate a POST request (or it might be "GET"), whereas if you just click on a link, or activate one of your browser's "bookmarks" or "favourites", then the request method will always be "GET". Therefore, if it's "POST", we can tell that a form was definitely submitted.  The contents of the form would appear here, and there would also be some "Content-" headers describing the data. Web browsers generate two kinds of "POST" data: either "multipart/form-data", which is used when uploading files to a web server, or the more common "application/x-www-form-urlencoded".

  • Connection control Connection:keep-alive Keep-Alive:300 These headers are used to fine-tune the network traffic between you and the web server.  They don't tell us much, except a little about the capabilities of your web browser.

  • Authorisation Username:not present If you have "logged in" to a web site, your username appears here. Note that this only applies to web sites which use proper HTTP authentication - typically, a "login" window pops up and you get three chances to enter your username and password, otherwise you see a page which says "Authentication Required" or similar.  It doesn't apply to web sites where the "login" is a separate page. It's also possible to supply the username and password in the URL you tell your browser to visit - for example, http://user:password@www.example.com/.  In that case, the username would appear here too.
