Democracy Beyond Elections is a collaborative, national campaign dedicated to transformative democracy rooted in community led decision making.  It is not enough to get the right person elected or to know that those closest to the issues are closest to the solutions - we must act on this knowledge and put real decision making power in community hands. This means equipping community-members often ignored, pushed out, or marginalized by our current democratic systems with the tools, resources, and opportunities to deeply engage in democratic processes. This means committing to radically reimagine what participation and civic engagement really entail - including tangible and consequential power sharing. And this means expanding our definition of democracy to extend between and beyond elections in participatory practices that include everyone.

This Green, Resilient, and Equitable Actions for Transformation (GREAT) database aims to collect as many examples as possible where city, state, and national leaders are making COVID-19 recovery plans in ways that could also produce benefits in racial, gender, and economic equity and in climate change mitigation and resilience. It is being maintained by the multisolving team at Climate Interactive, including Dr. Elizabeth Sawin and Cassandra Ceballos.

Launched as a ten-year initiative in 2003, Leveraging Investments in Creativity (LINC) represents a philanthropic experiment in using information, money, strategy, and partnerships to effect change in the support system for artists in the United States. WHAT IS ENERGY JUSTICE? Energy justice refers to the goal of achieving equity in both the social and economic participation in the energy system, while also remediating social, economic, and health burdens on those disproportionately harmed by the energy system. Energy justice explicitly centers the concerns of communities at the frontline of pollution and climate change ("frontline communities"), working class people, indigenous communities, and those historically disenfranchised by racial and social inequity. Energy justice aims to make energy accessible, affordable, clean, and democratically managed for all communities.

The PPIC Water Policy Center builds on the successful model of strategic research and engagement that defines all of PPIC's work. It connects nonpartisan, objective research to real-world water management debates, with the goal of putting California water policy on a sustainable and constructive path. The center has fostered a vibrant, multidisciplinary research network and strengthened the bridge between science and policy.

Facing the challenges of sustainably managing and sharing water - our most precious natural resource - requires collaboration, education and outreach. Since 1977, the Water Education Foundation has put water resource issues in California and the West in context to inspire a deep understanding of and appreciation for water. 

One Earth is a philanthropic organization working to accelerate collective action to stay below 1.5°C in global average temperature rise. The solutions for the climate crisis already exist, and the latest science shows we can achieve the 1.5°C limit through three pillars of action - a shift to 100% renewable energy by 2050, protection and restoration of half of the world's lands and oceans, and a transition to regenerative, climate-friendly agriculture. To achieve these goals, we must rapidly scale philanthropic capital to meet critical funding gaps over the coming decade. 

We seek to promote an economy based on doughnut principles in Cambridge. We will facilitate its introduction by empowering individuals and organisations with the knowledge and tools they need to co-create a more socially and ecologically just city.
