Microsoft Command Line Standard - 0 views

  • our goal is to present a consistent, composable command line user experience. Achieving that allows a user to learn a core set of concepts (syntax, naming, behaviors, etc) and then be able to translate that knowledge into working with a large set of commands. Those commands should be able to output standardized streams of data in a standardized format to allow easy composition without the burden of parsing streams of output text.

Microsoft's new "Command Line Standard" guidance on how to write applications which behave nicely as part of a command line interface pipeline ... specifically, PowerShell Commandlets implement most of this by default, but this willl allow unmanaged apps to better coexist in the PowerShell world ...

Getting Started with Firefox extension - Diigo help - 2 views

  •  Feature Highlight: Highlights Diigo saves the day with "highlights". Highlights let you select the important snippets on a page and store them in your library with the page's bookmark. Let's try it. Just open a page, maybe one of your old-school bookmarks or one of your new cat bookmarks, and find the information on that page you actually care about. Select that important text. Got it? Okay, now put your hemet on, 'cause this might blow your mind! Click the highlight icon on the Diigo toolbar. It's the one with the "T" on a page with a yellow highlighter. You will notice that the selected text gets a yellow background. This means that the text has been saved in your library, and as long as you have the Diigo add-on the text will be highlighted on the page! How's that for easy?   Now you've highlighted the text. It will appear in your library within the bookmark for the page it is on. Go to your library and you can see how it works. If you're not sure how to get to your library, just click the second icon on the toolbar (Diigo icon to the left of the search bar) and then select "My Library »".
  • Sticky Notes on the Web What? I can put a sticky note on a web page? How? Oh, that's right! Diigo. Just right-click anywhere on the page and choose to "add a floating sticky note". Type up your note and choose "Post", then move the note anywhere on the page. You have to type a note first, before you move it where you want, otherwise there's nothing to move!

Want to know what I think the next UI breakthroughs will be? Here are two, both of which can be considered a return to fundamentals: 1. Command line languages; 2. Physicality: the return to physical devices, where we control things by physical body movement, by turning, moving, and manipulating appropriate mechanical devices.

Checking OpenCV with PVS-Studio - 0 views

  •
OpenCV is a library of computer vision algorithms, picture processing algorithms, and general-purpose numerical algorithms. The library is written in C/C++ and is free both for academic and commercial use, as it is distributed under the BSD license. The time has come to check this library with the PVS-Studio code analyzer. OpenCV is a large library. It contains more than 2500 optimized algorithms and consists of more than 1 million code lines. Cyclomatic complexity of the most complex function cv::cvtColor() is 415. It is no wonder that we have found quite many errors and questionable fragments in its code. However, the size of the source code taken into account, we may call this library a high quality one.

Security, security! But do you test it? - 0 views

  •
There is no fragment in program code where you cannot make mistakes. You may actually make them in very simple fragments. While programmers have worked out the habit of testing algorithms, data exchange mechanisms and interfaces, it's much worse concerning security testing. It is often implemented on the leftover principle. A programmer is thinking: "I just write a couple of lines now, and everything will be ok. And I don't even need to test it. The code is too simple to make a mistake there!". That's not right. Since you're working on security and writing some code for this purpose, test it as carefully!

Bugs found in GCC with the help of PVS-Studio - 0 views

  •
I regularly check various open-source projects to demonstrate the abilities of the PVS-Studio static code analyzer (C, C++, C#). Now it is time for the GCC compiler to get checked. Unquestionably, GCC is a very qualitative and well-tested project, that's why it's already a great achievement for a tool to find any errors in it. Fortunately, PVS-Studio coped with this task. No one is immune to typos or carelessness. This is why the PVS-Studio can become an additional line of defense for you, on the front of the endless war against bugs.
