Permanent magnet Alnico is an iron alloy with the addition of aluminum (Al), nickel (Ni), cobalt (Co), and a few other components that enhance magnetism in addition to iron. Alnico alloys have high coactivity and high Curie temperature. Alnico alloys are hard and brittle and cannot be cold worked, so they must be made by casting or sintering.
