Pipes: Rewire the web - 0 views

  •
"About Pipes Pipes is a powerful composition tool to aggregate, manipulate, and mashup content from around the web. Like Unix pipes, simple commands can be combined together to create output that meets your needs: - combine many feeds into one, then sort, filter and translate it.  - geocode your favorite feeds and browse the items on an interactive map. - power widgets/badges on your web site. - grab the output of any Pipes as RSS, JSON, KML, and other formats."

Sound Around You - 0 views

  •
This is a wonderful site from the University of Salford in the UK. Listen to soundscapes which have been recorded all over the world. Navigate on the map to find a place of interest, listen to the recording and read the information about the location. Upload your own soundscapes using the site or download the iPhone and iPad app at https://itunes.apple.com/app/i-say/id516927213. It's a useful geography resource and should get your students thinking about the sounds around them. http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/Music%2C+Sound+%26+Podcasts

Build with Chrome - 0 views

I don't often talk about it, but I own a little house in Sydney bay. It's not much, but I'm proud of it. The problem is that it is only virtual and made out of Lego. This wonderful site allows you to design houses, or anything else, with virtual Lego on a virtual plot in Australia or New Zealand. It's like a simplified version of SketchUp, great for younger children. http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/ICT+%26+Web+Tools

Make Your Images Interactive - ThingLink - 0 views

  •
Allows you to add hotspots on any photo or image.  You can have the hotspots give more information about something in the image, show a video or another image.  These images can then be embedded into your class website or blog and they will retain their interactivity. Think about using this as a cool presentation.  Add hotspots to a map to discuss history or a lit trip.  Add it to images of art with zoomed in hotspots highlighting the paint and items in the pictures.   It's great.

I'll restore British pride by beating Andre Ward, says Carl Froch ~ Daily World News - 0 views

  •
Carl Froch is aiming to restore British pride when he fights American Andre Ward in the final of the Super Six tournament in Atlantic City. In the past 12 months, British boxers have lost nine world title fights and won only two. "We're due a win, aren't we?" Froch, 34, said. "If you're a roulette table, eventually a red will come in. We've had eight blacks on the spin. "I want to put us back on the world map. We can't be a nation of losers." He added: "I have to bite down on to my gum-shield even harder because I've got to restore Britain's pride." Amir Khan, Matthew Hatton, Ryan Rhodes, John Murray, Brian Magee, Matthew Macklin, David Haye and Darren Barker have all lost fights abroad this year
