Exceptionally interesting and creative ways to look at music. Four interactive experiments with sound, one set of videos showing the process of others experimenting, and a very interesting module called "Take the Beat Back" that looks at the origins of different instruments as well as the scientific explanations of the sounds they produce.

Use stock photos, video, and music or upload your own. Your images are coordinated with music to make a video that is great to insert in everything from websites to presentations. I used one as preview for a play to show all the behind-the-scenes work the students did. Free videos up to 30 seconds - or pay to have full length videos. Students can use Animoto to create their own videos- great for music class - but can be an interesting tool for anything from vocabulary to science. The one below is actually a mock-up I made showing waht a vocabulary exercise might look like.

Glogster EDU - 21st century multimedia tool for educators, teachers and students | Text... - 1 views

Use this tool to make an interactive poster. You can add all different types of media to this page, making it good for multimodal 21st century learning. Would work well with lots of subjects, but could be especially fun for addressing communication and math. Students could make a Glogster for a word problem they write or explain the concept of slope using a variety of formats. Older students could even work on analyzing data to make their own infographics. This is great for getting students to respond in a variety of modes. Teachers could use this as a communication tool for parents - with info, pics, and videos. Below is an example of a glog made by a 7th grade teacher to "sell" a book -students could make their own glogs similar to this one instead of a traditional book report.

Totally 21st century in mindset, this site allows you to search by themes including American History, Community & Social Action, Creativity & Innovation, Global Cultures, Natural World, People & Places, and STEM. Many videos and lessons are available for educators to use with the K-8 set. The site has its own interactives like "Pitch Perfect" which uses a baseball metaphor to explain the parts of the orchestra and its "All Star" players through the years. Lessons also refer users to other helpful websites and interactives. Lots of ways to celebrate and integrate the arts with the help of this website!

NPR has a number of podcasts and other media available on current events and global issues. It is easy to share the information with students to start discussions. When creating websites and other resources, I have used some of their multimedia resources.
