Spiritual Warfare is very real. However, we are not helpless or without defense. To be equipped we have been given specific spiritual tools to fight the enemy. Our understanding of these tools is vital in our day to day struggles against the enemy. That is why we need to Arm ourselves and put on the Armor of God every day.

The first (or second?) part of a review of Rob Bell's "Love Wins."

As we seek to make daily life decisions the key question is NOT, "Is this solution good for me?" The key question is, "Is Jesus in it?" In other words, instead of seeking "a solution", we seek Jesus for He alone has the RIGHT solution.

Nothing we do of our own strength can protect us from the evils of this world… But, while we are walking in God's will, though the evil of the world may touch us, it can't defeat us, because a believer's victory is not in earthly security, it is in eternal security. Our victory isn't in physical safety, it is in spiritual strength: we are victorious when God's will is accomplished in us, not when we escape the travails/struggles of life.

The following is a reading plan that I developed for some newer disciples / followers of Jesus to help them get a good picture of what is going on in Scripture from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22. Our English Bibles do not follow a clear chronological order (particularly in the Old Testament), so many people who read the Bible straight through aren't able to, say, summarize the Biblical narrative as a whole. This is a bit of a problem as I believe that a developing healthy understanding of the Bible's story (and my/your place in it) is an essential component of discipleship.

Prayer is the way of reaching God. Life is full of trials and situations that we don't know how to face on our own, and there is nothing too small or too big to ask God for in Prayer. The core of the church is faith in God (exemplified by works), and brotherly love demonstrated by unity (not uniformity); that is what God is looking for. So let's not get distracted by things that are of lesser importance.

It is the love we share (by our actions, not just words!) that makes people believe we are sincere. It is how much we sacrifice for each other that opens the door for the gospel message. It is by bearing each other's burdens that we fulfill the Law of Christ.

Love is neither theoretical nor abstract. The lover pays a price to love the loved. Jesus gave His life and thereby proved His love for us. He didn't, and indeed couldn't, just stay in Heaven and wish us into salvation; a price had to be paid. We too must be willing to pay any price to love our brethren; because each person has value and that value is the Blood of Christ, for that is the price He paid for each man, each woman.

So as we go about our lives, making decisions about finances, health, relationships, employment, education and family (to name a few) let us call on our God, let us seek His face, let us search out His will. Life is a struggle and we can't see all the dangers ahead; it is difficult to know what choices to make. Truly, we have no hope of surviving on our own. But God is faithful: if we live by faith He will make our feet like hinds' feet so that our steps are assured and we can escape to safety. If we trust in God, He will make our feet surefooted so that we can escape the wiles of the devil.
