Down syndrome is a genetic disorder (involving an extra copy of chromosome 21) that leads to moderate intellectual disability, as well as a range of physical and health problems. Screening for Down syndrome during pregnancy can be done in a number of ways. The religion and ethics program presents two different women and the tough decisions they had to make after screening their babies for Down Syndrome. Are their actions morally right? or ethically allowable? or religiously authorized?

So as we go about our lives, making decisions about finances, health, relationships, employment, education and family (to name a few) let us call on our God, let us seek His face, let us search out His will. Life is a struggle and we can't see all the dangers ahead; it is difficult to know what choices to make. Truly, we have no hope of surviving on our own. But God is faithful: if we live by faith He will make our feet like hinds' feet so that our steps are assured and we can escape to safety. If we trust in God, He will make our feet surefooted so that we can escape the wiles of the devil.

God's wisdom and knowledge are infinite; the decisions of Almighty God cannot be rationalized by mere man. Who knows enough to argue with God? Who is wise enough to give God counsel?

As we seek to make daily life decisions the key question is NOT, "Is this solution good for me?" The key question is, "Is Jesus in it?" In other words, instead of seeking "a solution", we seek Jesus for He alone has the RIGHT solution.

True salvation is everything or it is nothing. To be a believer, a faithful follower of God, in Jeremiah's day, in Jesus' day and in our day means that God is at the center of our attention: that God alone is our motivation: God alone is our driving force: that He alone orders every step of our life.
