"Diigo is a powerful information capturing, storing, recalling and sharing tool. Here are just a few of the possibilities with Diigo: Save important websites and access them on any computer. Categorize websites by titles, notes, keyword tags, lists and groups. Search through bookmarks to quickly find desired information. Save a screenshot of a website and see how it has changed over time. Annotate websites with highlighting or virtual "sticky notes." View any annotations made by others on any website visited. Share websites with groups or the entire Diigo social network. Comment on the bookmarks of others or solicit comments to your shared bookmarks."
The Evernote Web Clipper allows you to save anything you see on the web quickly and easily straight into your Evernote account. You can clip a full page, single article or just the URL and save it to a designated Notebook and add tags. Your web clips then become searchable within your Evernote account. Doing this allows me to have all of my information at the tip of my fingers, right when I need it and across my multiple devices.
"Paper.li will make a daily newspaper following the Tweets of those a Twitter user follows, a Twitter hash tag or a list. The newspaper is delivered in a very reader-friendly format using the Twitter updates and links to bring readers stories, tweets, videos, photos and more"
"We've now posted a user guide to help you get started with the bookmarking tool Diigo. This brilliant service allows you to save, tag and search your own bookmarks. Diigo also lets you create public lists of links and share your bookmarks with other people in groups, such as the #VicPLN Diigo group. Diigo is the perfect way to share bookmarks within your faculty, your class or your learning network."
"Are you looking to figure out exactly which Twitter hashtag is the right one to
follow?
There's no
shortage of options
and it can feel overwhelming. Sure, there's the popular
#edchat and #edtech hashtags most of us follow. But what about the more focused
tags that you're missing out on?"
My point is that here most of us have created a PowerPoint and done a presentation (or will at some point) and yet it is likely to be one of the most poorly done things on a computer.
Social networks are captivating - there's no doubt. The minds behind building the popular social media platforms of today knew exactly what they were doing and they saw it before any of us ever did.
But an unforeseen (or potentially foreseen, but ignored) consequence is addiction. Social networks have been so good at "helping" us, but now they're hindering us.
There is always keen interest shown in twitter and this webinar walked through some of the basics of twitter. Participants ranged from experienced users of twitter through to absolute beginners
Technology impacts society in many ways - some of which are obvious and others more subtle - and those changes often call for changes in behavior. Etiquette is an important social construct that we tend to forget or ignore, but I would argue that etiquette has never been more important than now. One misstep could permanently damage or fracture your relationship with another.
