TED-Ed's commitment to creating lessons worth sharing is an extension of TED's mission of spreading great ideas. Within the growing TED-Ed video library, you will find carefully curated educational videos, many of which represent collaborations between talented educators and animators nominated through the TED-Ed platform. This platform also allows users to take any useful educational video, not just TED's, and easily create a customized lesson around the video. Users can distribute the lessons, publicly or privately, and track their impact on the world, a class, or an individual student.

Siftables, the toy blocks that think: David Merrill on TED.com In the latest release from TED2009, MIT grad student David Merrill demos Siftables -- cookie-sized, computerized tiles you can stack and shuffle in your hands. Now, TED is including videos of speeches that weren't originally on TED, like the "I had a Dream" speech, and "The Last Speech" by Randy Pausch, etc. Nice.

Here are my top 20 TED Talks podcasts for busy principals and superintendents (in no particular order). These are the TED presentations that I think are most likely to interest, educate, and entertain administrators as well as make them think!

People often ask if technical or science-related presentations can be as compelling as presentations covering other less technical topics. Garr Reynolds compiles thoughts, links, videos...how to present; the power of story in ANY field; an illustrative TED talk by Dr. Bonnie Blasser; an article about stoning the tedious presenter!

"Today's math curriculum is teaching students to expect -- and excel at -- paint-by-numbers classwork, robbing kids of a skill more important than solving problems: formulating them. At TEDxNYED, Dan Meyer shows classroom-tested math exercises that prompt students to stop and think." This is one of the most inspirational videos that can be shown to a math teacher.

This is an excellent video to spark conversation about math curriculum writing!

Each of these would be great as writing prompts, I believe.
