European Study on Prediction of Outcome in Patients With Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hyd... - 0 views

  •
Study is to determine the predictive values and prognostic accuracies of CSF dynamic measures, the TAP -TEST (high-volume cerebrospinal fluid withdrawal), resistance to CSF outflow and compliance in the prediction of shunt-treatment outcome in patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus.

The prediction and prevention of intrapartum fetal... [Am J Obstet Gynecol. 2001] - Pub... - 0 views

  •
Canadian study to examine the roles of clinical risk scoring, electronic fetal heart monitoring and fetal blood gas and acid-base assessement in the prediction of intrapartum fetal asphyxia in term pregnancies. The study concluded that although fetal heart rate patterns will not discriminate all asphyxial exposures, continuous fetal heart rate monitoring supplemented by fetal blood gas and acid-base assessment can be a useful fetal assessment paradigm for intrapartum fetal asphyxia

Reproductive risk factors of fetal asphyxia at del... [J Clin Epidemiol. 2001] - PubMed... - 0 views

  •
NCBI NIH PubMed.gov Abstract of Finland study investigating reproductive maternal risk factors of intrapartum fetal asphyxia. The study concluded that the incidence of intrapartum fetal asphyxia was 2.5%. Placental abruption, primiparity, alcohol use during pregnancy, low birth weight, preeclampsia, male fetuses, and small-for-gestational age births were independent risk factors of intrapartum asphyxia, with adjusted relative risks of 3.74, 3.10, 1.75, 1.57, 1.49, 1.48 and 1.33, respectively. Most cases of intrapartum fetal asphyxia occur in low-risk pregnancies and, therefore, risk screening in antenatal care cannot accurately predict which women will eventually need emergency care for fetal asphyxia.

Extrapyramidal cerebral palsy: a changing view. [J Dev Behav Pediatr. 1982] - PubMed re... - 0 views

  •
National Library of Medicine - National Institute of Health PubMed Abstract - Extrapyramidal cerebral palsy: a changing view - Earlier surveys of cerebal palsy characterized patients with extrapyramidal (choreoathetoid) cerebral palsy as having little cognitive impairment and few associated deficits. Anoxia, which has now replaced neonatal hyperbilirubinemia as a major cause of this type of cerebral palsy, predictably produces a diffuse type of brain damage.

DYSCAR: Characterization of Dystonia - 0 views

  •
Study being conducted to identify specific motor signatures of different forms of dystonia. Study will examine abnormal co-activation in distal and proximal muscles to evaluate the characteristics of the loss of selectivity of the motor command in mobile vs. fixed dystonia. We will also study possible cognitive and limbic components of the disease, examining the influence of cognitive and emotional loads on movement production.

Inflammatory Cytokines Associated With Perinatal Brain Injury - 2 views

  •
Completed observational study assessed whether measurements of certain pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines in the blood (either singly or in combination) at birth and/or up to day of life 21 can predict cerebral palsy at 18-22 months corrected age.
