Computerized Analysis of Fetal Heart Rate variatio... [Am J Obstet Gynecol. 1994] - Pub... - 0 views

  •
The purpose of this Winthrop-University Hospital, NY study was to evaluate whether computerized analysis of fetal heart rate variation may improve fetal surveillance in post term pregnancy. The study concluded that a computerized numeric analysis of fetal heart rate variation may improve fetal surveillance in post term pregnancy.

Fetal ST Segment and T Wave Analysis in Labor - ClinicalTrials.gov - 0 views

  •
2010 Ongoing study being conducted by NICHD - STAN Fetal Heart Monitor trial at clinicaltrials.gov - Research to test a new instrument, called a fetal STAN monitor, that may be used during labor to monitor the electrical activity of the baby's heart. This new instrument is designed to help the doctor determine how well the baby is doing during labor. It will be used along with the existing electronic fetal monitor used to measure the baby's heart rate and the mother's contractions during birth. The specific purpose of this research study is to see if this new instrument (fetal STAN monitor) will have an impact on newborn health.

Intrapartum computerized fetal heart rate paramete... [Obstet Gynecol. 2003] - PubMed r... - 0 views

  •
University of Weatern Ontario, Canada study to estimate to what extent computerized fetal heart rate (FHR) parameters are affected by labor and to estimate the relationship between FHR parameters and the degree of fetal metabolic acidosis in laboring patients at term. Study concluded that in term pregnant women with reassuring FHR tracing, labor causes an increase in both short- and long-term FHR variation, which was abolished in the presence of nonreassuring FHR tracing. Computer-derived FHR parameters studied during the last hour of labor were not correlated with the degree of metabolic acidosis as measured in the umbilical artery at birth.

The Pediatric Heart Network (PHN) is a group of hospitals in the United States and Canada that conduct research studies in children with congenital or acquired heart disease . Congenital heart defects occur in approximately 40,000 infants in the US each year and are a major cause of infant death. Acquired heart disease can cause death and long-term disability.

The prediction and prevention of intrapartum fetal... [Am J Obstet Gynecol. 2001] - Pub... - 0 views

  •
Canadian study to examine the roles of clinical risk scoring, electronic fetal heart monitoring and fetal blood gas and acid-base assessement in the prediction of intrapartum fetal asphyxia in term pregnancies. The study concluded that although fetal heart rate patterns will not discriminate all asphyxial exposures, continuous fetal heart rate monitoring supplemented by fetal blood gas and acid-base assessment can be a useful fetal assessment paradigm for intrapartum fetal asphyxia

Intermittent versus continuous electronic monitori... [Br J Obstet Gynaecol. 1994] - Pu... - 0 views

  •
Sweden study to compare the efficacy in detecting signs of fetal hypoxia in labour of intermittent (I-group) versus continuous (C-group) electronic fetal monitoring in women with low or moderate risk factors for fetal distress. Study concluded that Intermittent use of electronic fetal monitoring at regular intervals (with stethoscopic auscultation in between) appears to be as safe as continuous electronic fetal monitoring in low risk labours. prospective, randomised study."

Long-term evaluation of granulocyte-colony stimula... [Intensive Care Med. 2010] - PubM... - 0 views

  •
Long-term evaluation of granulocyte-colony stimulating factor on hypoxic-ischemic brain damage in infant rats. Hypoxia-ischemia (HI), as a major cause of fetal brain damage, has long-lasting neurological implications. Therefore, therapeutic interventions that attenuate the neuropathological out come of HI while also improving the neurofunctional outcome are of paramount clinical importance. The aim of this study was to investigate the long-term functional and protective actions of granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) treatment in an experimental model of cerebral. RESULTS: Granulocyte-colony stimulation promoted somatic growth and prevented brain atrophy and underdevelopment of the heart in infant rats.
