Efficacy of Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) in Persons Receiving Botulinum Neur... - 0 views

  •
FES is a form of treatment with a device to aid movement in people who have had damage to their brain or spinal cord. Small electrical impulses are used to excite and stimulate the nerves that supply paralyzed muscles. This research will look at any additional benefit that may occur when Botox injections are combined with specific occupational therapy exercises and with a device that uses functional electrical stimulation (FES) to help improve muscle function

Princeton University - McDonnell Center for Systems Neuroscience Research - 0 views

  •
Princeton University McDonnell Center for Systems Neuroscience explores the ways in which the brain acquires, modifies and stores information during cognitive processes, efforts that are of critical importance to Princeton scientists as they advance knowledge of neural coding and dynamics.Neural coding refers to the ways in which information is represented in the electrical and biochemical signals in neurons (perception and short-term memory) and the patterns of synaptic connections (long-term memory). Neural dynamics refers to the patterns of nerve cell electrical and chemical activity in which information is created, manipulated, and stored. Neural dynamics are involved in decision-making, planning, and executing sequences of behavior.

Automated Response to Spontaneous Epileptiform Activity Using the External Responsive N... - 0 views

  •
Study being conducted to learn about the effects (both good and bad) of a brain stimulating device known as the External Responsive Neurostimulating System. This is an investigational device that was designed to detect seizure activity and give an electrical stimulation to the brain to try to stop it

Electrical Muscle Stimulation to Aid Swallowing in Dysphagia - 0 views

  •
Completed study sponsored by NINDS to determine the feasibility of using extrinsic laryngeal muscle stimulation to elevate the larynx in a manner similar to that which occurs during normal swallowing. This research will also determine whether laryngeal elevation will open the upper esophageal sphincter to assist with entry of the bolus into the esophagus. Includes studies in normal volunteers and patients with swallowing disorders.

Reduced brain electric activities of frontal lobe in cortical cerebellar atrophy - 0 views

  •
2003 International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology study to assess the relationship between cerebellum and brain cortical activity without motor factors, we recorded the mid-latency auditory evoked responses (MLRs) with simultaneous recording of the electroencephalography (EEG) at rest in patients with 'pure cortical cerebellar atrophy (CCA)'.

Fetal ST Segment and T Wave Analysis in Labor - ClinicalTrials.gov - 0 views

  •
2010 Ongoing study being conducted by NICHD - STAN Fetal Heart Monitor trial at clinicaltrials.gov - Research to test a new instrument, called a fetal STAN monitor, that may be used during labor to monitor the electrical activity of the baby's heart. This new instrument is designed to help the doctor determine how well the baby is doing during labor. It will be used along with the existing electronic fetal monitor used to measure the baby's heart rate and the mother's contractions during birth. The specific purpose of this research study is to see if this new instrument (fetal STAN monitor) will have an impact on newborn health.
